The new WSL season kicks off this weekend and we're going to be in for another good season. There will once again be lots to play for and now it is time to predict where each club will finish.
ARSENAL
KEY PLAYER: BETH MEAD
Mead was working her way back towards full fitness for much of last season after recovering from an ACL injury. Now that she's full fit after a full pre-season under her belt, she'll be looking to return to the heights she hit two years ago.
PREDICTION: 3rd
Losing Miedema is a massive blow and esecialy to a fellow title rival. Having Mead and Williamson fully fit is a big bonus but without Miedema's goals, they might fall short of challenging for the title.
ASTON VILLA
KEY PLAYER: RACHEL DALY
Daly's didn't reach the heights she hit two seasons ago last season, but she still ended up as their top goal scorer again. After announcing her retirement from international football, she'll be looking to return to those heights as she'll feel fresher than ever.
PREDICTION: 6th
It will take time for them to get used to De Pauw's style of play, but I still think they can push for a top 5 finish. They've made some good signings over the summer and with Daly still around, they could go again.
BRIGHTON
KEY PLAYER: FRAN KIRBY
Kirby will bags of experience and quality to this Brighton side after years of playing at the highest level at Chelsea. Having someone like her around could help Brighton progress further up the table.
PREDICTION: 10th
The signing of Kirby is a big statement, but they have lost a couple of key players in Robinson and Terland. After a couple of unstable seasons on the pitch, this could be another transitional year for the Seagulls.
CHELSEA
KEY PLAYER: LUCY BRONZE
Bronze has established herself as the best right back in the world over the last few years and the signing of her is a big one for the blues. With the quality and experience she has, she could help the blues get over the final hurdle in Europe.
PREDICTION: 2nd
New boss Bompastor will have big shoes to step into in replacing an absolute icon in Emma Hayes despite her being a big name. It will take the players time to get used to her methods and despite making one or two big signings, this could be a transitional year for the blues.
CRYSTAL PALACE
KEY PLAYER: ANNABEL BLANCHARD
Blanchard will need to step up on the goals front this season as top scorer Elise Hughes will be spending much of the season on the side-lines. She netted 11 times in the Championship last season and will need to hit a similar amount in the WSL if Palace are to stay up.
PREDICTION: 12th
Losing top scorer Hughes to an ACL injury is a massive blow and especially heading into your first season as a WSL club. They do have some good attacking options, but their squad lacks experience at this level along with a clinical centre forward.
EVERTON
KEY PLAYER: TONI PAYNE
Goals were Everton's Achilles heal last season and if they're to avoid another season like last season, they'll need new signing Payne to deliver them. If she can hit the ground running, the toffees could kick on this season.
PREDICTION: 9th
They should fare better this season after an injury ravaged campaign last season. But with goals likely to be an issue again, another tough season awaits them.
LEICESTER
KEY PLAYER: JANINA LEITZIG
Leitzig has been a solid presence between the sticks ever since she's been with the Foxes as they've gradually become an established WSL side. She's always been a reliable keeper by making big and important saves, and they'll need her to do the same again if they're to progress this season.
PREDICTION: 8th
It will take time for them to get used to Miquel's style of play and management. But the foxes should hopefully kick on this season and their new manager could be the one to help them do that.
LIVERPOOL
KEY PLAYER: MARIE HOBINGER
The reds didn't score many goals last season despite finishing 4th and after a season of adaptation, Hobinger will hopefully kick on this season. She got 5 last season and if she can better that total this season, the reds could close the gap on the top three.
PREDICTION: 5th
They've progressed quicker than most people expected them to since they've been in the WSL after finishing 4th last season and 7th the season before. But repeating last seasons' exploits is a big ask.
MAN CITY
KEY PLAYER: KHADIJA SHAW
Shaw was the best striker in the WSL last season as she finished as the top goal scorer with 21 goals. City missed out on the title by the tightest on margins last season and if they can keep her fit, they could go one better this term.
PREDICTION: 1st
The signing of Miedema has strengthened their attack even further. With a forward line consisting of her and Shaw, they could be champions.
MAN UNITED
KEY PLAYER: ELLA TOONE
Toone has been one United's most important players in recent seasons and this season could be the one where she becomes the main player. If she can add more goals to her game, she could be a guaranteed starter for England at the Euros next summer.
PREDICTION: 4th
Losing keeper Earps and captain Zelem are both massive blows. But after winning the FA Cup last season, they'll be determined to kick on and close the gap on the top three.
TOTTENHAM
KEY PLAYER: MARTHA THOMAS
Goals were in short supply at Spurs last season but Thomas did manage to grab 10 in all competitions and end the campaign as their top goal scorer. If Spurs are to carry on progressing up the league, they'll need her to better her numbers from last season.
PREDICTION: 7th
They had a good season last season and they'll want to show a repeat of it in order to show further progression. If the attackers can better their goal numbers from last season, they could have similar season.
WEST HAM
KEY PLAYER: VIVIANE ASSEYI
Asseyi scored the all important goal that kept the Hammers off the bottom of the table last season against Bristol City and they'll need her to pop up with more this season. With another relegation battle expected, she'll need to deliver more goals if the Hammers are to have another season of WSL football.
PREDICTION: 11th
They had a terrible end to last season and their manager has had a summer to rebuild the squad. If the forwards do better on the goals front, they should be safe.
