Ruben Amorim began work at Man United this week after being appointed only a couple of weeks ago, taking over from Erik Ten Hag, who was sacked last month.
The 39 year old has one big job on his hands at Man United and if he's to be successful and fare better than those that came before him, there are a number of things he needs to do.
And here are three of them:
Give the team an identity
Man United have lacked an identity ever since Alex Ferguson left and it was one of their main issues under Erik Ten Hag. Under Ten Hag, no one knew what their style of play was and his failure to give the team an identity lead him to getting the sack.
Amorim's Sporting Lisbon side had a clear identity in how they played in dominating possession and playing on the front foot. The United fans and hierarchy will be hoping that he can get the team playing this style, which is a brand of football that the fans in particular want to see.
It will take time for the players to get used to it as they're very unfamiliar with it. But if Amorim can get his message across to the players and get them on board with what he's trying to do, we'll hopefully see United playing with a clear style of play.
Get rid of the dead wood
I said at the end of last season that Man United needed a squad clear-out in the summer after their worst ever Premier League season. Although they did sell some players, the clear-out never really happened as some of the players they should've moved on are still at the club.
Amorim has the opportunity this season to take a good look at his current squad and see which players he wants to keep and which players he wants to move on. There will no doubt be a number of players who he'll want to move on as some of them are not at the level to play for Man United, and others may not fit the way Amorim wants his team to play.
I compare this to when Jurgen Klopp first arrived at Liverpool as he joined Liverpool around the same time that Amorim joined United. Klopp had a good look at the Liverpool squad he inherited when he first arrived and at the end of his first season, he moved on the players he didn't want before signing players that were going to fit his way of playing. Amorim should learn from Klopp when it comes to building his United squad.
Fix the goal scoring problems
Scoring goals was one of United's main problems under Erik Ten Hag and it will be very much near the top of Amorim's things-to-do list. It's certainly been their problem this season as they're the joint-fourth lowest scorers in the league alongside Ipswich with 12. Last season they scored the fewest amount of goals in the top 10 with 57.
At Sporting, Amorim had a no.9 who was more than capable of scoring goals in Viktor Gyokeres, who scored 29 goals for him last season and is the current top scorer in European leagues with 16. Gyokeres has been linked with United since Amorim got the job and could potentially join him in the summer.
United's current no.9 in Rasmus Hojlund isn't the calibre of striker United need to lead their attack and s het to prove it. If his goal returns don't improve under Amorim, the latter may consider bringing in Gyokeres or someone more proven at the top level.
How will they line up?
Amorim used a 3-4-3 formation throughout his time at Sporting Lisbon and it is likely that he's going to stick with this formation at United, as most people think.
Andre Onana will obviously start in goal as he's United's first choice keeper. That could be for the time being though as Amorim is reported to be looking for a replacement for him.
Leny Yoro is yet to feature for United this season due to injury and will need time to get up to speed. But once he's up and running fitness wise, he'll probably start on the right of Amorim's three man defence as he'll see him as one for the future. De Ligt and Martinez will make up the rest of the defence as they're the best two they have ability wise.
Ugarte and Casemiro did work well as midfield pair against Leicester on Sunday, but I think it will will be Kobbie Mainoo who partners Ugarte instead of Casemiro as he's got more energy. Mainoo may not be in the form he was in last season, but as he's young and someone with a bright future ahead of him, I can see him be a key art of Amorim's plans.
Ugarte will start as the main defensive midfielder ahead of Casemiro as he's someone who Amorim knows, having worked with him at Sporting. Also, Casemiro no longer has legs to do what he once did.
Dalot and Mazraoui are likely to occupy the wing back positions as they're both attack minded. Luke Shaw may be on his way back from injury after returning to training a few days ago, but because of his injury record, I think Amorim will stick with Mazraoui as the left wing back.
Bruno Fernandes has to start in this team as he's United's most creative player. If there is somewhere for him to play, it will be in one of the no.10 roles behind the striker as he's more effective in the latter part of the pitch. Marcus Rashford takes the other no.10 spot as I think Amorim will like the kind of player he is, and is someone who Amorim will be looking to get the best out of after a disappointing year for the forward.
Rasmus Hojlund will start in the no.9 role as he's United's first choice in that position. Amorim may not stick with him in the long term, but for now, he'll be his main striker.
