Which Players could be pushing for an England call up this season?

The first England squad of the season will be announced on Thursday as interim manager Lee Carsley looks ahead to their opening Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Many players will be looking to force their way into the squad this season whilst some will be looking to force their way back. Especially the players who missed out on the Euros.

So which players could be pushing for an England call up?

KIERNAN DEWSBURY-HALL - CHELSEA

Dewsbury-Hall never featured for England at youth team level and now he's at a big club in Chelsea, he has a chance of putting himself in the international picture. If he can make the step up this season, could force his way into the squad at some point this season.

HARVEY ELLIOTT - LIVERPOOL

Elliott impressed in a number of cameo appearances off the bench for Liverpool last season and impressed in the games he started as well. He'll be targeting a regular starting spot in the reds team this season and if he can force his way into the team and stay there, he has a good chance of forcing his way into the senior squad. He could potentially earn his first call up in the first half of the season as Lee Carsley knows him from the U21's.

MAX KILMAN - WEST HAM

Kilman had a solid season with Wolves last season and now that he's at a club competing higher up the Premier League in West Ham, he'll definitely fancy himself of earning an England call up. He impressed in West Ham's recent win over Crystal Palace and if he can keep producing performances like that, he has a chance of putting himself in contention for a call up.

NONI MADUEKE - CHELSEA

Madueke impressed for Chelsea at times last season and has started this season in decent form after netting a hat trick in the blues' 6-2 win at Wolves. Interim boss Carsley knows Madueke from the U21's and if he can keep up the good form he's been in, he could earn himself a senior call up. Maybe on Thursday?

RICO HENRY - BRENTFORD

Henry spent a lot of last season out injured and had he not ruptured his ACL, he might've even gone to the Euros. He will need time to get himself going after being out for so long but once he's up and running fitness wise, he could put himself in contention as England are very light in options at left back.

MORGAN GIBBS-WHITE - NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Lee Carsley knows Gibbs-White from the U21's and he was one of their star performers as they won the Euros last year. Gibbs White has been Forest's best player for the last two seasons and if he start adding goals to his game, he could earn his first senior call up.

PLAYERS LOOKING TO EARN RECALLS:

DOMINIC SOLANKE - TOTTENHAM

Solanke has one senior cap to his name back in 2017 when he was at Liverpool. He was unlucky not to have earned an recall last season after netting 19 times for Bournemouth and now he's at a bigger club in Spurs, he'll feel that he'll have a better chance of forcing his way into the reckoning.

MARCUS RASHFORD - MAN UNITED

Rashford had a disappointing season last season and his poor form cost him a place in the squad for the Euros. After having a full pre-season to get himself fit, he'll be determined to win his place back and if he can find the form he showed two seasons ago, he could force his way back in.

JAMES MADDISON - TOTTENHAM

Maddison's poor form in the second half of last season cost him place in the Euros squad and he'll no doubt be determined to win it back. He's had a full pre-season under his belt to get himself fit and has started this season reasonably well after registering assists in both games. If he can keep up that form, he could find himself ack in squad. He could even be in the squad on Thursday.

HARRY MAGUIRE - MAN UNITED

Maguire missed out on the Euros due to injury and he had to watch Marc Guehi step up brilliantly in his absence. His place in the starting line-up might be under threat because of Guehi's form in the Euros but after being a key player under Gareth Southgate, Carsley might recall him for his experience around the camp.

BEN WHITE - ARSENAL

White hasn't been in an England squad since the 2022 World Cup, where he left camp early due to an apparent falling out with then-assistant manager Steve Holland. This probably strained his relationship with the national team and with Southgate no longer in charge, he might have a better chance of being called up.

JACK GREALISH - MAN CITY

Grealish didn't have the best of seasons last season and was left out of the Euros squad as a result of it. He was in good form during pre-season and he'll be determined to carry those performances in to this season. If he can make the most of the opportunities given to him by his manager, he could force his back back in as he is someone who can make a difference when coming off the bench.

JARRELL QUANSAH - LIVERPOOL

Quansah was in the preliminary squad for the Euros in the summer but was ultimately left out of the final squad. He was subbed off at half time in Liverpool's opening game against Ipswich, but new boss Arne Slot will still give him opportunities and he'll no doubt look to make the most of them. Quansah played under Carsley with the U21's and Carsley could give him another opportunity at senior level.

JARRAD BRANTHWAITE - EVERTON

Branthwaite was arguably the best English defender last season and his good form was rewarded with an England call up in March, and a place in the Euros preliminary squad. He was unfortunately left out of the final squad for Euros and he'll surely have his eyes set on a return to the senior set up. He is currently side-lined with a groin injury, but when he returns next month and once he's up and running fitness wise, he'll be looking to put himself back in reckoning.

TYRICK MITCHELL - CRYSTAL PALACE

Mitchell was last called up back in 2022 and he could find himself back in the reckoning very soon as England are very short on left back's. Luke Shaw is again facing a spell out injured and with Ben Chilwell appearing to be out of the picture, Mitchell could potentially be back in the squad for the upcoming international break. He's a guaranteed starter at Palace and if he can carry his end of season form from last season into this season, he could find himself back in the squad at some point this season.
