The new Premier League season kicks off next month and clubs are already in the market looking for new players. With clubs getting their pre-season preparations up and running and the season itself kicking off next month; What does each Premier League club need ahead of the new season?
ARSENAL - Centre Midfielder
A lack of strength in depth cost Arsenal last season as they lost their grip on the Premier League title and one of the positions where they need more depth is in midfield. The signing of Declan Rice certainly bolsters that area but with Granit Xhaka gone, the Gunners will need more options in that area if they're to challenge for the title again.
ASTON VILLA - Winger
Villa are short on options in wide areas with Leon Bailey being their only out and out option in that position. With Unai Emery's side in Europe this season, they'll need more options in that area so they have a big enough squad to compete on both fronts.
BOURNEMOUTH - Striker
Despite comfortably staying up last season, Bournemouth's strikers scored a combined total of 10 goals between them with Dominic Solanke netting 6 and Kieffer Moore netting 4. If they're to stay up again this season and avoid the second season syndrome, they'll need a more consistent goal scorer up top who can guarantee them 10+ goals.
BRENTFORD - Striker
Ivan Toney's suspension has left a big whole in the bees attack. Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo are capable of stepping up like they did at times last season. But if the Bees are to have another season like last year, they'll need someone to play up top regularly during Toney's absence.
BRIGHTON - Central Midfielder
With Alexis Mac Allister gone and Moises Caceido potentially on his way out, the Seagulls will need to buy replacements for for the pair if they're to have another good season this year. They could also do with more options in this position as they'll be in Europe meaning that they'll need a big squad in order to compete on both fronts.
BURNLEY - Striker
The Clarets didn't have a striker who could consistently score goals last season with their top goal scorer being on loan midfielder Nathan Tella. If they're to stay up this season, they need to get that out and out no.9 who can score them the majority of their goals to keep them in the league.
CHELSEA - Striker
The blues have been crying out for a no.9 for a number of years and their lack of one last season really cost them. They've got enough quality in other positions but for them to challenge next season, they need to buy that striker who can guarantee them 10-15 goals a season.
CRYSTAL PALACE - Striker
Palace have lacked a centre forward who can regularly score goals for a number of years now and their lack of one cost them at times last season. With Wilfried Zaha likely to leave this summer, they'll need someone to step up on the goals front so they can push up the league.
EVERTON - Striker
Goals were a massive problem for the Toffees last season as they were part of another relegation battle. If they're to stay out of another dogfight, they'll need to bring in a striker who can guarantee them 10+ goals a season. Especially with Dominic Calvert Lewin being injury prone.
FULHAM - Winger
The Cottagers are short on players in wide areas with Harry Wilson and Bobby Decordova Reid being their only options in that department. They'll need cover and in this position just in case someone gets injured so they have someone to step up.
LUTON - Striker
Luton were the lowest goal scorers in the top six in the Championship last season with Carlton Morris being their only main goal threat. If they're to stay up they need to bring in someone who can help Morris out so they're not solely reliant on his goals.
LIVERPOOL - Central Midfielder
The midfield was the reds' main problem last season as it looked leggy and ageing and it had a huge impact on the way they played. They have started to improve it with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai but for them to challenge again this season, they still need another one or two players in this position.
MAN CITY - Left Back
City may have achieved a lot under Pep Guardiola but the one area they've always felt light in is at left back. They probably will stick with the three at the back system they used at the back end of last season but there might still be games where they do play a back four. With this likely to be the case, Pep should go out and get a recognised left back.
MAN UNITED - Striker
United lacked a clinical no.9 last season and it's what they need if they're to challenge for the title this season. Marcus Rashford carried the team for the majority of last season and having that centre forward would certainly help him out on the goals front.
NEWCASTLE - Central Midfielder
With the Magpies in the Champions League next season, they'll need a big squad in order to compete on both fronts. The central midfield area is certainly one where they need more options as it's the area of the pitch that gets rotated the most and the Magpies will have to rotate their squad a fair bit so they can keep players fit and fresh.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST - Centre Back
Forest might've stayed up last season but still conceded a lot of goals. Their defence was their Achilles heal for much of last season and if they're to stay up and avoid the second season syndrome this season, they'll need to be tighter at the back. A new central defender would certainly help them with that.
SHEFFIELD UNITED - Striker
The Blades lacked firepower the last time they were in the Premier League and it's very much something they'll need if they're to stay up this time round. Their strikers in Oli McBurnie and Iliman Ndiaye are unproven at Premier League level and if they are to stay up, they'll need some more proven at the top level.
TOTTENHAM - Centre Back
Spurs conceded an alarming 63 goals last season which was more than any other side in the top 10. They have signed a new keeper in Guglielmo Vicario which will help, but he'll need a strong defence in front of him if Spurs are to concede fewer goals and challenge for the top four this season.
WEST HAM - Defensive Midfielder
The departure of Declan Rice has left a big hole in the Hammers midfield and it's one that will need fixing. With the Hammers in Europe again, they'll probably need to buy more than one so they have a big enough squad to compete on both fronts again.
WOLVES - Striker
Wolves were the lowest goal scorers last season with 31 goals yet they managed to stay up reasonably comfortably. If they're to stay out of another relegation dogfight this season, they'll need to bring in a 10+ goal a season striker which is what they've lacked for the last couple of seasons.
