Spurs lacking an identity
This has arguably been the case for a while given how the last three managerial appointments have turned out and the way that the club has declined in recent years. Well it was certainly the case against Bournemouth as they put in another poor display to lose the game 3-2 giving their top four hopes another dent.
Against Bournemouth they had no idea what to do with the ball when in possession and when out of possession they didn't want to press. No one knew what they were trying to do and there have been a number of games this season where that has been the case. They have no identity.
They had an identity when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge but since he left in 2019, Spurs haven't had a clear way of playing. They're not a side who will press as most people will know and they're definitely not a side who will start games on the front foot. If they're not either of them what kind of team are they? Nobody knows.
Haaland will break all time Premier League season goal record
Erling Haaland equalled the Premier League goal record for goals in a 38 game season with his double at Leicester on Saturday taking his tally up to 32 for the season. This equalled Mohamed Salah's record from the 2017/18 season. With the form he's in at the moment and with 8 games left to play, Haaland will surely break the all time Premier League season goal record which currently stands at 34.
That record is shared by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole from the 1994/95 and 1993/94 seasons respectively when 40 games were being played per season. No one has got close to breaking that record but with Haaland being the player he is and being in the form he's been in this season, he's got to break that record before the season is over.
When I was asking earlier in the season how many records Haaland would break the all time Premier League season goal record was one of them. He was scoring goals at an incredible rate during the early part of the season and you just knew that he was going to bag many more. He's done exactly that. He did have a small blip around January-February time which left his chances of breaking that record in doubt. But he was always going to find himself back among the goals because of the kind of player he is.
He's just two shy of that record and will break it within the next few games with the form he's in.
Is the title slipping away from Arsenal?
Arsenal threw away a second consecutive two goal lead on Sunday where they again drew 2-2 with West Ham. After surrendering another two goal lead and the gap between themselves an City now being four points; Is the title slipping away from them?
The Gunners are due to play City next Wednesday at the Etihad with the winner of that game likely to go on and win the title. City are likely to head into that game as the in-form team with the run they've been on recently and it will arguably make them favourites to win the game. The game being at the Etihad will certainly give them an advantage as they have one of the best home records in the league this season.
City also have a game in hand and a win from both that game and the game against Arsenal next Wednesday could see them return to the summit. Especially if Arsenal drop points from their games either side of the City one against Southampton and Chelsea. That game in hand could give City an advantage in the title race.
Arsenal arguably have the toughest run in out of the two sides as they have to face high flying Newcastle and Brighton as well as City. Those games are without a doubt their most challenging and the ones where they're most likely to drop points. All of them are likely to unsettle Arsenal just like Liverpool and West Ham did because of how they play.
Is it time for Trent Alexander Arnold to play in midfield?
Trent Alexander Arnold put in arguably his best performance of the season last night against Leeds where he impressed in his new hybrid role. He was given the freedom to express himself as assisted two of the goals and dictated play in that midfield whilst playing in his hybrid role. Is it time for him to play in midfield?
He's had a tough time at right back this season as he's been heavily criticized for his defending which has come under the spotlight many times over the course of the season. He's obviously very effective going forward because of the abilities he has but defensively he hasn't been good enough and especially this season.
He's probably more suited to playing as a midfielder because of the range of passing he has and the numerous chances he creates during games. There has always been the question about him playing in midfield because of the abilities he has as a player and with the struggles he's had at right back this season, he's probably going to end up in midfield.
He plays the game like a midfielder and a move into that position could benefit him he's a forward thinking player and is more likely to express himself as a player when playing in that position.
