Talking Points of the weekend

Benitez beginning to win over the Everton fans

Rafa Benitez's appointment as Everton manager in the summer was arguably unwelcomed among their supporters because of his connection to rivals Liverpool. Everyone was saying that he needed a good start to his tenure in order to win over the supporters and he's definitely done that with 7 points from their opening 3 games. The style of football has been good which is something most people were questioning prior to his appointment as he's more of a defensive coach. But he's got his Everton side on the attack and scoring goals which will without a doubt please the fans. Everton and have started well as has Benitez.

Is Mikel Arteta's job on the line after poor start?

Arsenal's poor start to the season was made even worse at the weekend as they were thrashed 5-0 by champions Man City. It's been their worst ever start to a league season having lost all three of their games so far which currently sees them at the bottom of the Premier League. Their performances have been poor and their manager has come under a lot of criticism for that along with his team selections. They have had some tough fixtures but the first one against Brentford should've been a winnable game for them and they went on lost that one 2-0. With a couple of so called winnable fixtures coming up for them in Norwich and Burnley, a defeat in one those could see Arteta's job on thin ice.

Greenwood making case for team selection ahead of Ronaldo arrival

With Cristiano Ronaldo back at Old Trafford some people may think that Mason Greenwood may not get as many first team opportunities. But with the start to the season he's had he's 100% making a case keep his place in the side as he's impressed and netted in each game for United have played this season. Ronaldo may take the no.9 spot, but Greenwood should still get game time as he can play out wide and in particular on the right hand side. He's impressed on the right when he's played there over the last couple of seasons and could do again with the form he's in.
