September Team of the Month

GK: NICK POPE (NEWCASTLE) - Pope kept 3 clean sheets and made a number of crucial saves during September as Newcastle got their season properly up and running. His presence between the sticks gives the Magpies that defensive security.

RB: KIERON TRIPPIER (NEWCASTLE) - Trippier registered 4 assists during September with 3 of them coming in Newcastle's 8-0 drubbing of Sheffield United. He was also excellent defensively as Newcastle kept 3 clean sheets and got their season up and running after a slow start.

CB: FABIAN SCHAR (NEWCASTLE) - Schar played every game during September and put in solid performances in the games they won. His strong showings at the back helped Newcastle keep 3 clean sheets during September and get their season up and running.

CB: JOACHIM ANDERSEN (CRYSTAL PALACE) - Andersen was solid at the back for the majority of September for Palace as they kept 2 clean sheets. He ended the month with an all round good performance against Man United where he scored the winning goal.

LB: DAN BURN (NEWCASTLE) - Burn was effective at both ends of the pitch during September by being very solid defensively and a threat going forward. His performances at both ends played a huge role in Newcastle getting their season up and running after a slow start.

RW: MOHAMED SALAH (LIVERPOOL) - Salah extended his run of consecutive goal involvements to 12 games during September where he registered 2 goals and 3 assists. The reds nearly lost their talisman to the Saudi Pro League at the beginning of the month and they'll be very glad that they've managed to keep hold of him.

CM: DOUGLAS LUIZ (ASTON VILLA) - Luiz was Villa's player of the season last season and has carried his form from last season into this one. He netted twice in September and is now one of Villa's most important players because of the work he does in the midfield.

CM: YVES BISSOUMA (TOTTENHAM) - After being frozen out by the previous manager, Bissouma is now one of the first names on the Spurs team sheet. He was excellent right throughout September as he won many crucial challenges and worked his socks off in the midfield. He's looking more like the player we saw at Brighton.

LW: HEUNG MIN SON (TOTTENHAM) - Son was back to his best during September as he netted 6 goals including a hat trick against Burnley and a double in the North London Derby. He's stepping up as Spurs' new talisman after the departure of Harry Kane.

ST: ERLING HAALAND (MAN CITY) - Haaland is proving to be no one-season wonder this season and he proved it in September by scoring 5 goals in 4 games. He's got 8 already this season and looks set to win another golden boot knowing the machine he is.

ST: OLLIE WATKINS (ASTON VILLA) - After a slow start to the season, Watkins finally found some form in September as he ended the month with 4 goals including a hat trick in their most recent win against Brighton. He's surely got to be in Gareth Southgate's thoughts after a strong end to the month.
