Premier League Predictions: Matchweek 4

SATURDAY:

CHELSEA V CRYSTAL PALACE

Which Chelsea will turn up this one? The one from the first half against West Brom or the one from the second half. They were two completely different performances. They were punished for defensive errors in the first half and showed great character to level the score in the second half. Crystal Palace on the other hand have a decent record away from home against the big teams recently so they could fancy themselves here. They were unlucky against Everton because of the controversial handball which you could say was or wasn't a handball depending how other viewers saw it. I think Chelsea will win this one because they have more quality than Palace and with new keeper Mendy looking to make his league debut after impressing against Spurs in the League Cup, I think they'll keep a clean sheet because Palace don't have a huge number of goals in them.

PREDICTION: 2-0

EVERTON V BRIGHTON

Everton are flying at the moment and have made their best start to a Premier League season. Domininc Calvert Lewin can't stop scoring and he deservedly got his England call up because of the form he's been in since the start and will be hoping to get on the score sheet again. Brighton were very unlucky against Man United last weekend as they hit the woodwork numerous times and conceded a debatable penalty right at the end of the game which you can say was or wasn't a penalty depending on how you see it. I expect Everton to keep up their strong start to the season in this one and I think it will be a straightforward victory for them.

PREDICTION: 3-1

LEEDS V MAN CITY

This game will hopefully be a cracker. Leeds will set out to try and score more than the opposition and Man City will play the way that they usually play under Pep. Leeds kept their first clean sheet of the season against Sheffield United with keeper Meslier impressing which will give him and the backline some confidence as the season progresses. City need to be right defensively because Leeds are very dangerous when they go forward which Liverpool found out on the opening day of the season. Ruben Dias will hopefully makes his debut in this game and City will be hoping that he can make them better defensively as a unit. I think this game will have goals in it and I think it will be a Leeds win because I can see them hurting City's feeble defence with their movement up top which caused Liverpool many problems. City will score as they usually do but i think Leeds will cause an upset here.

PREDICTION: 3-2

NEWCASTLE V BURNLEY

Newcastle have Karl Darlow to thank for after his saves kept them in the game against Spurs and if it wasn't for him, Newcastle might've lost heavily. Burnley have a tough start to the season with not many new signings coming in and they lost their first two games of the season. The good news for Burnley is that James Tarkowski and Ashley Barnes are back from injury after featuring in their League Cup defeat against Man City which will please Sean Dyche bearing in mind the amount of players he's without due to injury. Having Tarkowski and Barnes back will be huge for Burnley because they're both key players for the Clarets and with those two in the side I think Burnley will get their first points on the season. It'll be a fairly close game as both managers set their teams up in a similar way and I think it will be a draw.

PREDICTION: 1-1

SUNDAY:

LEICESTER V WEST HAM

Leicester have started the season on fire with three wins from their opening three games. Nobody saw that performance coming against Man City with Jamie Vardy netting a hat trick and the entire team putting pressure on City. West Ham got their season up and running with that big win against Wolves where Jarrod Bowen in particular impressed and he'll be looking to take that performance into this game and the rest of the season. I think Leicester will continue their good start in this one because Jamie Vardy's pace will be too much for Hammers' defence and also Leicester have more quality than than West Ham so a Leicester win for me.

PREDICTION: 3-1

SOUTHAMPTON V WEST BROM

Southampton got their season up and running with the win at Burnley last Saturday and will be hoping to get the same result in this one. Danny Ings has continued where he left off with three goals in three Premier League games and will be hoping to find the net in this one going into the international break. West Brom were excellent in the first half against Chelsea but completely fell away in the second half. They will takes positives from their first half display in that game and if they play like they did in the first half against Chelsea, they could get something from this game. Both sides have talented players going forward but can be vulnerable defensively. Because of this I think it will be a score draw with both sides really going for it.

PREDICTION: 2-2

ARSENAL V SHEFFIELD UNITED

Arsenal will be hoping to get back to winning ways after their defeat at Liverpool on Monday night. They did get their revenge with the win the League Cup last night where defensively they were impressive and have been so far this season. Sheffield United are yet to score a goal this season which will be a concern for Chris Wilder as they're yet to get a point as well as score a goal. Rhian Brewster may be on the way from Liverpool, but the Blades need to start scoring goals if they're to avoid becoming a one season wonder. As the Blades are yet to score a goal, I'm going for an Arsenal win because they've started the season fairly strongly and I think they'll have enough to beat the Blades who took four points off of them last season.

PREDICTION: 2-0

WOLVES V FULHAM

Nobody saw Wolves' 4-0 defeat to West Ham coming because Wolves are usually very difficult to play against. They weren't great defensively against West Ham but Wolves shouldn't get worried because they have a manager and a squad who can pick themselves up after a bad result. I can't see Fulham get any kind of result at the moment after the start they've had. Defensively they look all over the place and I really can't see that improving unless they sign one or two defenders until the window shuts. I'm going with a comfortable Wolves win here because their attack will have too much for Fulham's weak backline. I can see the likes of Jimenez and Traore cause lots of damage to Fulham's defence.

PREDICTION: 4-0

MAN UNITED V TOTTENHAM

United got their season up and running with the win at Brighton where you could say that they were lucky because of the debatable penalty that was given which gave them the win. They looked good in the Cup win against Brighton with Eric Bailly and Juan Mata impressing which will give Ole some thought about his team selection. Tottenham got their place in the Europa League group stages with their big win over Maccabi Haifa last night after feeling hard done by against Newcastle where a debatable penalty decision was given against them which cost them the win. I think United will win this one because Spurs have a poor record at Old Trafford and they're also without Son who will be a huge miss for them because they're a better team when Son plays in my opinion. I think United have more creativity in their team and I think they'll edge this one.

PREDICTION: 2-1

ASTON VILLA V LIVERPOOL

Aston Villa have made a really good start to the season and are looking like a really good side. They've just signed Ross Barkley on loan from Chelsea who will be a great addition to the side alongside talisman Jack Grealish. Liverpool are looking like title favourites after strong performances against Chelsea and Arsenal plus their bench is looking strong after Diogo Jota scored on his debut in the win over Arsenal on Monday night. i'm going for a Liverpool win here because I think they'll be too strong for Villa. Villa have looked better defensively this season, but I think Liverpool's firepower will be too much for them.

PREDICTION: 0-3
