Premier League Predictions: Matchweek 35

SATURDAY:

WEST HAM V LIVERPOOL

West Ham were poor last time out against Crystal Palace and I'm getting the feeling that their season is beginning to peter out.

They've one just once in their last seven games and there are still questions surrounding David Moyes' future at the club. I don't think that speculation is affecting though.

Liverpool were outmuscled by Everton in midweek as they didn't show enough desire to win the game. They did have a number of chances but they were again wasteful. That result was the one that put an end to their title hopes.

I might've gone for a West Ham if Jarrod Bowen was fit but as he's a doubt and West Ham have often struggled without him, I'm backing the reds to bounce back here.

PREDICTION: 1-2

FULHAM V CRYSTAL PALACE

Fulham have been reasonably strong at home this season but they come into this game not in good form. They've lost three of their last four games.

They were made to pay for their mistakes against Liverpool last weekend as they were punished for most of the mistakes they made.

Crystal Palace on the other hand come into this one in good form and are looking like a side that have fully adjusted to the way that Oliver Glasner wants them to play.

Having Eze and Olise back has made a difference and so too has been the form of Jean-Philippe Mateta. The Frenchman has scored more goals under Glasner than he did under both Roy Hodgson and Patrick Vieira.

Palace may be the side in better form coming into this game, but Fulham are a resilient side who are decent at home. Both teams will score, but I think the points will be shared.

PREDICTION: 2-2

MAN UNITED V BURNLEY

Man United might've won in midweek against Sheffield United, but it was still another unconvincing showing. They needed Bruno Fernandes to bail them out once again like he has done quite a bit in recent weeks.

The same question will again be asked of them ahead of this one: Which United team will turn up?

Burnley have given themselves a fighting chance of staying up and their victory at Luton last weekend gave them a realistic chance.

They'll definitely get chances here as they're a side who like to play on the front foot and United are a side who give up a lot of chances. But the Clarets still have moments where they kick themselves in the foot and I can see them do that again here.

PREDICTION: 2-0

NEWCASTLE V SHEFFIELD UNITED

Newcastle hammered the Blades 8-0 in the reverse fixture back in September and they'll fancy themselves to do the same in this one. Especially as they're at home where they have a strong record and also the fact of Sheffield United having the leakiest defence in the league.

Sheffield United showed fight in their defeat at Man United in midweek where they unfortunately set an unwanted record - most goals conceded in a 38 game season. They've now let in 92 which takes them above Derby's total of 89 from the 2007/08 season.

The Blades will be relegated if they lose here and and I can see it being a comfortable defeat for them. Especially as they've been so poor on the road.

PREDICTION: 6-0

WOLVES V LUTON

Wolves are without a win since the middle of March and that is mainly down to injuries. They've had to put academy players on their bench because of the amount of injuries they've had.

They do however have both Hwang Hee Chan and Matheus Cunha available and they need to keep those two fit if they're to avoid a poor end to a promising season.

Luton looked like a side who accepted their fate against Brentford last weekend and they'll need to pick themselves up off their feet if they're to pull themselves out of the relegation zone.

Rob Edwards' side can still stay up as they're only a point off safety. But a loss like the one they suffered against Brentford can be tough to come back from.

The Hatters have been leaky at the back in recent months and I think Wolves will punish them here. Especially with Cunha and Hwang available.

PREDICTION: 3-1

EVERTON V BRENTFORD

Everton were excellent in every department against Liverpool in midweek and they deserve a lot of credit for the performance they put in. They were more up for it than their rivals were.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin in particular was outstanding and it's good to see him back among the goals after a long spell without getting one. He's looking fit and back to the player he was before his injury troubles.

Brentford look good as safe and a good result for them here could guarantee it. Theirs sights will now be set on a strong end to the season, of which they have made a start on following back to back wins over Sheffield United and Luton.

But I think their momentum will be halted here as Everton are full of confidence and I can see them carry that confidence into this one.

PREDICTION: 2-1

ASTON VILLA V CHELSEA

I've had doubts about Aston Villa finishing in the top four since the international break as I thought a lack of squad depth would catch up with them. But I now think they'll finish in the top four as they have some breathing space between themselves and Spurs and some winnable games to end the season with.

Villa were beaten 3-1 in this fixture in the FA Cup back in February where they were below the levels they've performed at for the majority of the season. I think they'll show up in this one though because of the form they've been in recently.

Chelsea simply did not turn up against Arsenal in midweek and I was quite surprised with the performance they put in. Especially after a decent showing against Man City in the FA Cup a few days prior.

The pressure will now be on Mauricio Pochettino's side to end the season strongly and I even hear that the club are considering replacing him. That news doesn't surprise me one bit as he's been a man under pressure for a while.

I think Villa will deepen his misery here and especially with an in-form forward in Ollie Watkins at the top end of the pitch.

PREDICTION: 2-0

SUNDAY:

BOURNEMOUTH V BRIGHTON

Bournemouth are in the top half and five points off the European places following their win in midweek over Wolves where they had to hold on with 10 men.

I thought Brighton going out of the Europa League would benefit as they would no longer have that distraction that has impacted their season. But it hasn't turned out that way as they haven't won since the international break.

I've said for the last few weeks that the future of Roberto De Zerbi is affecting their performances and De Zerbi himself doesn't even look bothered anymore. He's surely going to walk at the end of the season.

Because of this I fancy Bournemouth to come away with the win here as they have players who can definitely hurt Brighton, including Dominic Solanke who I think will get on the scoresheet here.

PREDICTION: 3-1

TOTTENHAM V ARSENAL

After seeing Everton put an end to Liverpool's title hopes in midweek, I wonder if Spurs will do the same to Arsenal's here.

Spurs have definitely had more time to prepare for this game as they haven't played for two weeks and this could give them an advantage.

Their last game saw them hammered by Newcastle where they looked all over the place and Ange Postecoglou will certainly want a reaction from his side in this one.

Arsenal completely blew Chelsea away in midweek where they looked like a side who are going to go all the way in this title race.

Mikel Arteta's side have struggled away to Spurs in recent seasons and although they have a stronger mentality than they did last season, I can still see Spurs giving them a tough game here.

PREDICTION: 2-2

NOTTINGHAM FOREST V MAN CITY

Nottingham Forest were unlucky against Everton last weekend with the decisions that went against them but for them to issue 'that' tweet on X was just unprofessional. They have the right to feel feel aggrieved but for them to call the VAR official a Luton fan was just wrong.

Forest nicked a 1-1 draw in this fixture last season and another result like that in this one will push them closer towards safety. But I just don't see it as I think Man City will be too strong for them.

Man City were excellent from start to finish against Brighton last night where they showed no signs of being tired. Phil Foden in particular was outstanding and I think he's arguably the favourite to win the player of the season award with the season he's having.

City are likely to again be without Erling Haaland for this one but they should still be ok without him as Julian Alvarez and others are more than capable of stepping up. They should do so again here.

PREDICTION: 0-3
