Premier League Predictions: Matchweek 2

SATURDAY:

EVERTON V WEST BROM

Everton have started the season well with the win at Tottenham in which the new signings impressed. Allan and Rodriguez have given them some solidity and creativity in midfield which was what they lacked last season. They showed that they have the potential to break into the top six with that performance and especially with the signings they've made. West Brom on the other hand got their system wrong against Leicester by playing a back three which they did not use during their promotion campaign last season. Because of what Everton have in forward areas, I think they'll win this game comfortably because of the talent they have at their disposal. Even if West Brom do revert to a back four, the Toffees will still have no problems in winning this game.

PREDICTION: 3-0

LEEDS V FULHAM

What a performance Leeds put in at Liverpool despite losing the match 4-3. They went toe to toe with the champions and they made it an entertaining game to watch. Fulham were poor against Arsenal at both ends of the pitch. Defensively they made errors and going forward they didn't press as a team which Alan Shearer highlighted on Match of the Day. I'm going for a Leeds win here because of the way they played against Liverpool. If they play like that on Saturday, they'll be too strong for Fulham so a Leeds win for me.

PREDICTION: 3-1

MAN UNITED V CRYSTAL PALACE

Palace got off to a good start with a win against Southampton while as for Man United, this will be their first game of the season having ended last season later because of European involvements. United might look off the pace in this game having only played one game of pre-season but should still have enough to win this game. With the attacking talent they have in Fernandes, Rashford and Martial plus Pogba as well, I think they'll win this game comfortably. Especially as Palace don't score many goals.

PREDICTION: 3-0

ARSENAL V WEST HAM

Its been a good week for Arsenal. Gabriel and Willian both impressed on their debuts in their win at Fulham and Aubameyang has finally signed that new contract. The fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief and look forward to the rest of the season knowing that their star man is staying put. West Ham did not look their best against Newcastle. They didn't look like scoring and both goals were defended poorly even though Hendrick's goal was a decent strike. If Arsenal play like they did against Fulham, they should win this game comfortably so an Arsenal win for me.

PREDICTION: 2-0

SUNDAY:

SOUTHAMPTON V TOTTENHAM

Big game for both clubs having lost their opening games. Southampton didn't take their chances at Palace while Spurs looked completely flat against Everton. The Saints have beaten Spurs at St Mary's for the last two seasons and with the way they press teams, I'm expecting them to do the same here unless Spurs put in a better performance to the one they put in against Everton. With Danny Ings in your side, you've got every chance and I think he'll score in this one and give Southampton the 3 points.

PREDICTION: 2-1

NEWCASTLE V BRIGHTON

Newcastle got off to a good start with the win at West Ham and in Callum Wilson they should finally have a striker who can find the back of the net. Brighton didn't play that badly against Chelsea despite losing 3-1 with at least two of the goals hardly being their fault. Newcastle haven't beaten Brighton since the pair were promoted back in 2017 and both fixtures between these two last season ended in draws. It will be close game, but I'm going for another draw like both games last season.

PREDICTION: 1-1

CHELSEA V LIVERPOOL

Chelsea didn't look fantastic against Brighton, but did enough to secure the three points. Liverpool on the other hand looked flaky at the back against Leeds with Van Dijk making a mistake and both full backs being caught out when Leeds went forward. Both sides look brilliant going forward which should make this an exciting game but have recently looked suspect at the back so I'm going with an entertaining score draw.

PREDICTION: 2-2

LEICESTER V BURNLEY

Leicester made a great start with the win at West Brom with Castagne impressing and scoring on his debut while Harvey Barnes also impressed. This is Burnley's first match of the season as their clash with Man United being postponed due to United's extended break. Burnley haven't made any major signings so far which is a concern considering James Tarkowski is wanted by West Ham. I think Leicester will win this one because of their attacking talent and they also have a good record in this fixture. James Maddison is also back from injury which will be huge for them so a win for the Foxes.

PREDICTION: 2-0

MONDAY:

ASTON VILLA V SHEFFIELD UNITED

This will be Villa's first game of the season after their game with Man City was postponed due to City's involvement in Europe at the end of last season. Its been a good two weeks for Villa with the signings of Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez who will hopefully strengthen the team at both ends of the pitch plus Jack Grealish signed a new contract which is huge also. Sheffield United didn't look like scoring against Wolves after their slow start and will be eager to get something in this one if they want to avoid second season syndrome. This was the first game after the restart last season and as this is a close game to call, I'm going for another draw.

PREDICTION: 1-1

WOLVES V MAN CITY

After Liverpool won last week, City will be eager to get their campaign off to the best possible start with this being their first game after they were allowed an extended break. Wolves got off to a good start with the win at Sheffield United on Monday night and will be hoping to get something out of this one having done the double over City last season and not losing to City at home since their promotion. This should be a great game to watch and with the question mark hanging over Man City's defence, I can see Wolves get something here again.

PREDICTION: 2-2
