Premier League Predictions: Matchweek 1

SATURDAY:

FULHAM V ARSENAL

A London Derby to kick off the season. Fulham playing their first game back in the Premier League after a season out and Arsenal who are looking to continue their good run after winning the FA Cup and Community Shield. I think Arsenal have have just a bit too much for Fulham in this one so I am going for a comfortable Arsenal win and Aubameyang to get at least two fo their goals.

PREDICTION: 1-3

CRYSTAL PALACE V SOUTHAMPTON

Palace ended last season pretty poorly as they lost 7 of their last 8 games. Southampton ended it pretty well as they only lost once after the restart. Palace haven't scored many goals at home for the last two seasons whereas Southampton were very strong on the road last season. Because of this I will go for a Southampton win because they have more goals in them.

PREDICTION: 0-2

LIVERPOOL V LEEDS

Arguably the biggest game of the weekend. Liverpool start off their title defence with a tricky tie against newly promoted Leeds who are back in the big time for the first time in 16 years. I'm going to go for a Liverpool win here because they have just a bit too much for Marcelo Bielsa's side. I think Leeds will score, but Liverpool should have enough to win this game comfortably.

PREDICTION: 3-1

WEST HAM V NEWCASTLE

These two sides will probably finish in similar positions come the end of the season. They both have some decent players going forward and are both fairly untroubled at the back. Both managers have similar playing styles in that they''l set up fairly defensive then hit teams on the counter when they get the ball back. I think it be a close game so I'll be going with a draw.

PREDICTION: 1-1

SUNDAY:

WEST BROM V LEICESTER

Both of these sides didn't have the best of ends to last season. West Brom may have got promoted but looked edgy during their final few games whereas Leicester only won twice after the restart which lead to them missing out on Champions League football. Leicester may be without Pereira and possibly Maddison for this one, but they should still have enough to win this game and especially with Jamie Vardy at the top end of the pitch. They'll be too strong for the Baggies.

PREDICTION: 0-3

TOTTENHAM V EVERTON

A big game for both clubs who will be looking to improve a lot on their showings from last season. They've both brought well in the window and they also have some exciting players going forward as well. Because of Everton's poor opening day record I'm going for a Tottenham win because of that and Jose Mourinho has a good record on the opening day as well. It will be close but I think Spurs will edge it.

PREDICTION: 3-2

MONDAY:

SHEFFIELD UNITED V WOLVES

These sides both had good seasons last season and have both brought reasonably well in the window with Sheffield United bringing in the likes of Ampadu and Ramsdale and Wolves bringing in players to bolster the depth of their squad. It will be a close game like both fixtures between these were last season but I feel that Wolves have a bit more firepower in their attack so I'll go for a Wolves win.

PREDICTION: 1-2

BRIGHTON V CHELSEA

Chelsea have made some exciting players during the window which could make them one of the most exciting teams to watch this season. Brighton haven't signed many major signings but should still have enough to stay up for another year. I am without a doubt going for a Chelsea win here because they'll have a bit too much for Brighton with their attacking talent going forward. Ziyech may be injured, but Werner and Pulisic will still cause the Seagulls problems.

PREDICTION: 0-3
