The Premier League fixtures for the 2023/24 season were released earlier today and there are some interesting games to look forward to when the new season kicks off.
The biggest game of the opening weekend is without a doubt Chelsea taking on Liverpool because of the history of the fixture and the size of both clubs. Both sides were disappointing last season and will both will be hoping for a much improved season. Especially Chelsea who will have Mauricio Pochettino in charge for the first time.
Ange Postecoglu kicks off his tenure at Spurs with an away trip to Brentford which will be a tough game to start with as Brentford have had a good record against the big teams since they've been in the Premier League. They'll want to keep up that record in the new season.
Liverpool and Spurs have the toughest run-ins out of all the big clubs with one of their tough games being against each other. Alongside that tough fixture, Spurs have tough games against Man United and Arsenal in two of their opening seven games whilst Liverpool are set to face Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa in three of their opening seven games. Newcastle and Villa will be tough ones because of the season they had last time and will both be expecting to kick on.
As for the other big teams, Arsenal and Man United both have winnable starts with Arsenal kicking off against Nottingham Forest and Man United facing Wolves. Newcastle meanwhile kick off against Aston Villa which could be a good game with both sides wanting to build on the season they had last season.
Out of all the newly promoted sides, Sheffield United have the most winnable opening fixture as they'll be taking on Crystal Palace. Burnley and Luton on the other hand have tough starts. Burnley kick off against Champions Man City where Vincent Kompany will face off against his former club and Luton kick off against Brighton who finished 6th last season. Burnley have the tougher run-in out of the three of them as they face Aston Villa, Spurs, Man United and Newcastle as well as City in five of their opening seven fixtures.
