Premier League 2024-25 Preview

The new Premier League season kicks off this weekend and it's set to be another entertaining season with a number of new faces coming in and records waiting to be broken.

In this preview, I've done a little fact file on each club which includes where I think they'll finish this season, their strongest line ups and who their most important player is likely to be alongside their stats from last season.

ARSENAL

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 2nd

FA CUP: 3rd Round

LEAGUE CUP: 4th Round

EUROPE: Champions League Quarter Finals

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Bukayo Saka, 20

Arsenal will have the title in their sights this season and especially after going so close last season. Their defence was their strong point last season and it has been strengthened further with the signing of Riccardo Califiori from Bologna. Their squad will arguably be stronger this season with that signing as Califiori can play anywhere across the back and also, they'll have Jurrien Timber back after missing the entirety of last season with an ACL injury.

KEY PLAYER: BUKAYO SAKA

Saka just keeps getting better and better season after season. He had his best season for goals last season and if he can better that this season, he could go onto another level.

PLAYER TO WATCH: RICCARDO CALIFIORI

Arsenal had the best defence in the league last season and it has been strengthened further with the signing of Califiori. He can play either as a centre back or as a left back and he's likely to play the latter as left back was a problem position for the Gunners last season.

PREDICTION: 2nd

They'll have their eye once again set on the title after going so close last season. But as they're still lacking that 20+ goal a season striker, I think they'll fall short again.

ASTON VILLA

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 4th

FA CUP: 4th Round

LEAGUE CUP: 4th Round

EUROPE: Europa Conference League Semi Finals

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Ollie Watkins, 27

Aston Villa have been one of the big spenders this summer with the players they've brought in which have bolstered their strength in depth. Amadou Onana comes in as a replacement for Douglas Luiz and although Moussa Diaby has left for Saudi Arabia, Villa should have a big enough squad to compete on both fronts, which has also been boosted with the returns of Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Buendia, both whom missed the entirety of last season through injury.

KEY PLAYER: OLLIE WATKINS

Watkins was on another level last season with the goals he scored and he could go up another one this season. With Villa in the Champions League this season, he has the chance to test himself on the biggest stage.

PLAYER TO WATCH: IAN MAATSEN

Maatsen impressed on loan at Dortmund last season during their run to the Champions League final and his experience from that will be massively beneficial for Villa this season. If he can carry that form with him into this season, Villa could be competitive on both fronts.

PREDICTION: 4th

They've arguably been the busiest team this summer with the signings they've made, which have strengthened the depth of their squad. With a strong squad at their disposal, they should give the top four another crack.

BOURNEMOUTH

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 12th

FA CUP: 5th Round

LEAGUE CUP: 4th Round

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Dominic Solanke, 21

Bournemouth had a promising debut season under Andoni Iraola last season and they'll want to follow it up with another one this season. Their chances of doing so have been hit by the departure of striker Dominic Solanke to Spurs, but they still have time to find a replacement for him with the money they got him. But in the meantime, the attacking players will need to step up on the goals front.

KEY PLAYER: ANTOINE SEMENYO

Semenyo made some vital contributions for the Cherries last season including 8 goals. He'll need to make a similar amount once again this season if the Cherries are to reach the heights they hit last season.

PLAYER TO WATCH: RYAN CHRISTIE

Once a no.10, Christie is now an all-action midfielder who has an incredible work ethic. His energy and work rate in the midfield are huge for the Cherries when they're out of possession and it's why he's one of the first names on the team sheet.

PREDICTION: 11th

They had a promising debut season under Iraola last season, and I can see them follow that up with another this year. Losing Solanke is a blow, but if they can find a replacement for him, they could have another decent season.

BRENTFORD

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 16th

FA CUP: 3rd Round

LEAGUE CUP: 3rd Round

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Yoane Wissa, 12

Brentford had an injury disrupted season last season as they found themselves sucked into a relegation battle. Rico Henry was arguably the greater loss and whilst he is still recovering from his ACL injury, having him back later in the season will be a massive boost for them because they missed his energy and tenacity down the left hand side.

Ivan Toney's future is still very much up in the air and their chances this season will depend on whether he stays or goes. New signing Igor Thiago was brought in as his potential replacement, but he's side-lined until the end of the year and it will be up to Wissa and Mbeumo to step up if Toney does go.

KEY PLAYER: BRYAN MBEUMO

Mbeumo stepped up in Ivan Toney's absence last season and was a big miss when he was out injured midway through the season. With Toney likely to leave this summer, Mbeumo may need to step up once again.

PLAYER TO WATCH: ETHAN PINNOCK

Pinnock was the supporters' player of the season last season and is an ever present in the Bees team. They're a much better side when he's available because of the solid performances he puts in week in week out.

PREDICTION: 13th

A lot will depend on whether Toney stays or goes, but getting key players back form injury will be key. If they can keep those players fit, they should be safe for another season.

BRIGHTON

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 11th

FA CUP: 5th Round

LEAGUE CUP: 3rd Round

EUROPE: Europa League Last 16

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Joao Pedro, 20

Brighton will have the youngest manager in Premier League history in charge this season in Fabian Hurzeler at the age 31. Hurzeler will no doubt have a big job on his hands replacing a manager like Roberto De Zerbi who put Brighton on the map during his tenure in leading them to Europe and competing in Europe for the first time in their history.

Appointing Hurzeler might be seen by some people as a risk due to his lack of experience as a manager and in the top level. But if there is anyone who always makes the right decision in appointing managers, it's owner and chairman Tony Bloom.

KEY PLAYER: KAORU MITOMA

Mitoma was a big miss for the Seagulls during the latter stages of last season as they dropped down the table. They didn't score many goals during that period and having the Japanese winger back will be a big bonus as he is someone who is capable of scoring goals.

PLAYER TO WATCH: SIMON ADINGRA

Brighton have seen many young talents emerge in recent years and Adingra was the main one from last season. He scored 6 goals last season alongside being the best young player at AFCON and he is set to play a key role under the new manager.

PREDICTION: 12th

It will take time for Hurzeler to get used to speed and ruthlessness of the Premier League as he's a young manager. Because of this, a season in transition awaits.

CHELSEA

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 6th

FA CUP: Semi Finals

LEAGUE CUP: Runners Up

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Cole Palmer, 25

Chelsea have once again been busy this summer in spending a lot of money and bringing in several players. They haven't had a settled pre-season at all because of the amount of new players coming in and new boss Enzo Maresca has struggled to fit them all in. That has arguably been the reason for their poor results during pre-season and if this continues heading into the new campaign, it could be another up and down season for the blues.

KEY PLAYER: COLE PALMER

Palmer carried the team for the entirety of last season in what was an up and down season for the blues. They might not have finished where they did without his goals and if he can have a similar campaign this season, he could push himself to be a regular in the England team.

PLAYER TO WATCH: KIERNAN DEWSBURY-HALL

Dewsbury-Hall worked under new boss Maresca last season at Leicester and was one of their main men during their promotion campaign. He might've taken a big risk in joining the blues as he's yet to prove himself at the top level, but if he makes the step up, he could force his way into the England squad.

PREDICTION: 8th

It will take time for them to get used to Maresca's style of play and time is something they'll need to give him as he's unproven at this level. Due to his lack of experience at the top level, it could be another up and down season.

CRYSTAL PALACE

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 10th

FA CUP: 3rd Round

LEAGUE CUP: 3rd Round

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Jean-Philippe Mateta, 19

Crystal Palace ended last season very strongly under Oliver Glasner, who got them playing an attractive style of football and the mood around the fanbase will be very optimistic. Losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich is a blow, but they have brought in a couple of players who could replace him in Daichi Kamada, who Glasner worked with when he was at Eintracht Frankfurt, and Ismaila Sarr who knows this league from his time at Watford. They've also still got Eberechi Eze who looks set to stay.

KEY PLAYER: EBERECHI EZE

Eze makes such a difference for the Eagles when he's available as he gives them that extra bit of quality in attack. With Olise gone, their chances this season will very much depend on him.

PLAYER TO WATCH: ISMAILA SARR

Palace needed to replace Olise and they might've found the ideal replacement in Sarr. He proved himself in this league from his time at Watford and is a similar player to Olise in that he's quick and can score goals.

PREDICTION: 10th

They ended last season very strongly and they'll be determined to carry that momentum into this season. Losing Olise is a blow, but with Eze still around they should have a good crack at the top 10.

EVERTON

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 15th

FA CUP: 4th Round

LEAGUE CUP: Quarter Finals

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, 8

Survival will again be the aim for Everton this season and especially with this season being their final one at Goodison Park. They're due to move into their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock next season and they'll want to being life there as a Premier League club.

Sean Dyche's side will be looking to kick on this season after spending the last few seasons fighting to avoid relegation and had it not been for the points deductions they received last season, they would've finished mid-table. They'll be hoping that their off-field issues are behind them now after selling some players early in the window to comply with PSR.

KEY PLAYER: JORDAN PICKFORD

Pickford has been Everton's player of the season for the last three season and rightly so. He's kept them in games many times by making a number of crucial saves and without him, they would almost certainly be in the Championship.

PLAYER TO WATCH: ILIMAN NDIAYE

Goals have been the Toffees' Achilles heal over the last few seasons and especially their lack of someone who can score them. Ndiaye will want to prove a point after a poor season at Marseille last season and if he can get off the mark straight away, the Toffees will finally solve their longstanding problem.

PREDICTION: 16th

They'll be hoping for a less disruptive season this year and that their off-field problems are all solved following the points deductions they had last season. With Dyche still around, they should be safe for another season.

FULHAM

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 13th

FA CUP: 4th Round

LEAGUE CUP: Semi Finals

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Rodrigo Muniz, 10

Fulham have had two fairly steady seasons since their return to the top flight and now Marco Silva's side will be looking to make that push into the top 10. But doing that this season will be challenging as they've lost midfield anchor Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich who has arguably been their best player in each of the last two seasons.

They'll expect a more challenging season because of that but they have recruited well in other areas. Emile Smith-Rowe will be looking to get his career back on track after a couple of injury-hit seasons at Arsenal and the same could be said about Ryan Sessegnon who is back to where it all started for him.

KEY PLAYER: ANTONEE ROBINSON

Robinson charges up and down the left-hand side all game long and is effective at both ends. He made more interceptions than any other player last season and was always a threat whenever he went forward. His energy is key to how Fulham play.

PLAYER TO WATCH: EMILE SMITH-ROWE

Smith-Rowe will be determined to get his career back on track after a couple of injury-hit seasons at Arsenal, which both stalled his career and limited his game time. If Marco Silva can get the best out of him in a system that suits him, he could earn himself a recall to the England squad.

PREDICTION: 15th

Losing Palhinha is a massive blow because of how important he was for them. But with some good players in other positions, the Cottagers should have enough to be safe.

IPSWICH

LAST SEASONS STATS:

CHAMPIONSHIP: 2nd

FA CUP: 4th Round

LEAGUE CUP: 4th Round

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Nathan Broadhead and Conor Chaplin, 13

Ipswich are back in the top flight for the first time in 22 years and they did it after securing back to back promotions, becoming the fifth side to achieve that feat. They managed to keep hold of manager Kieran McKenna after he was linked with a number of clubs and it was crucial that they kept hold of him.

McKenna has a number of exciting young players in his squad who he'll be hoping can make the step up. But it will be tough as the Premier League is a ruthless league where you can't rely on youngsters to keep you up. Just ask Burnley from last season.

KEY PLAYER: OMARI HUTCHINSON

Hutchinson impressed on loan last season and was one of the Tractor Boys' most productive players with 10 goals and 6 assists. His performances last season later earned him a permanent move and if he can carry his form form last season into this one, Ipswich might have a chance.

PLAYER TO WATCH: LIAM DELAP

Delap will be determined to make an impression this season after a few underwhelming loan spells. If he can hit the ground running straight away, Town might have a chance of staying up.

PREDICTION: 19th

It's good to have them back after so many years away. They've made some decent signings over the summer, but with their squad lacking Premier League experience, I'm afraid their stay is going to be short lived.

LEICESTER

LAST SEASONS STATS:

CHAMPIONSHIP: 1st

FA CUP: Quarter Finals

LEAGUE CUP: 3rd Round

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Jamie Vardy, 20

Leicester come into their first season back in the Premier League under a cloud as they have a potential points deduction hanging over their heads for breaching financial spending rules, going back to their last season in the top flight two season ago. It hasn't at all been an easy summer for the Foxes as they've not made many signings and have had to change manager following Enzo Maresca's departure to Chelsea. New boss Steve Cooper will need to get off to a strong start if he's to win the fans over due to his Forest connections.

KEY PLAYER: STEPHY MAVIDIDI

Mavididi was one of the Foxes' standout performers last season with his 12 goals playing a key role in them winning promotion. He'll need to hit a similar amount this season if the Foxes are to stay up.

PLAYER TO WATCH: ABDUL FATAWU

Fatawu impressed whilst on loan last season and his performances were very good that the club signed him up on a permanent deal. He was one of the Foxes' standout performers as they won promotion and they'll need him to carry those performance into this season if they're to stay up.

PREDICTION: 18th

They're arguably the best equipped side to stay up out of all the newly promoted sides. But with a potential points deduction looming over them and a lack of movement in the transfer market, they might just fall short.

LIVERPOOL

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 3rd

FA CUP: Quarter Finals

LEAGUE CUP: Winners

EUROPE: Europa League Quarter Finals

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Mohamed Salah, 25

A new era begins at Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot who no doubt has a big job on his hands in replacing a true icon in Jurgen Klopp. The reds are the only club yet to make any signings this summer, but they still have a reasonably strong squad which doesn't need much of a rebuild. That happened last summer when they revamped their midfield.

KEY PLAYER: MOHAMED SALAH

Salah has been Liverpool's talisman for a number of years and still is today due to his exceptional goal record. The reds will now be hoping that he signs a new contract with his current deal up next summer.

PLAYER TO WATCH: HARVEY ELLIOTT

Elliott imporessed in a few cameos off the bench last season and this season, he'll be hoping to nail down a regular starting spot under new manager Slot. If he can do that and maintain a consistent run of performances, he could put himself in contention for an England call up.

PREDICTION: 3rd

New manager Slot will have big shoes to fill in replacing an icon in Jurgen Klopp and he'll need time to get his methods across to the players. They might be yet to sign players, but with a strong squad, they should get at least top four.

MAN CITY

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 1st

FA CUP: Runners Up

LEAGUE CUP: 3rd Round

EUROPE: Champions League Quarter Finals

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Erling Haaland, 38

Man City did what no team has ever done last season in winning a fourth successive Premier League title and they'll now want a fifth. They'll again be the team to beat this season because of the dominance they've established and the fact that their team has hardly changed over the summer. But in terms of off the field, they have their hearing over the 115 charges they're facing coming up and as the date of that draws nearer, they'll have a distraction which they'll need to manage.

KEY PLAYER: PHIL FODEN

Foden took his game to another level last season where at times stepped up as City's main man, especially when Kevin De Bruyne wasn't around. If he can have another season like last, he could put himself among the best players in Europe.

PLAYER TO WATCH: SAVINHO

City's didn't have a first-choice right winger last season following the departure of Riyad Mahrez. They might have a like for like replacement for him in Savinho in that he's quick, can score goals and is a very good crosser of a football.

PREDICTION: 1st

They'll again be the team to beat as their squad still looks as strong as it ever has done. Because of this, another title will be on the way.

MAN UNITED

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 8th

FA CUP: Winners

LEAGUE CUP: 4th Round

EUROPE: Champions League Group Stage

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Rasmus Hojlund, 16

Man United had an absolute shocker of a season last season and there will be pressure on Erik Ten Hag to deliver, despite him signing a new contract. The FA Cup win last season basically saved his job and with Sir Jim Ratcliffe now in and making changes behind the scenes, the latter will demand progress in the league in his first full year as co-owner.

Recruitment is one area that is being addressed and the signings the club have made in the summer do look promising. They've brought in two players in the future in Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro and two players who Ten Hag knows well from his time at Ajax in Noussair Masraoui and Matthijs De Ligt. But they still need to offload players if they're to progress this season after the poor performances from most of the team last season.

KEY PLAYER: BRUNO FERNANDES

Fernandes makes such a difference to United when he plays because without him, they'd probably be a mid-table side. His contributions were key to United last season and whenever they need someone to produce a moment of quality, he's the one who usually does that.

PLAYER TO WATCH: MATTHIJS DE LIGT

De Ligt worked under Ten Hag when he was at Ajax and was a key part of the side that reached the Champions League semi finals in 2019. The Dutchman's career hasn't exactly taken off since those days and now he's back with his former boss, he'll be looking to return to the heights hit when he burst onto the scene.

PREDICTION: 6th

There will be a lot of pressure ono Ten Hag after their worst season in many years. A lot of changes are being made behind the scenes, but will they lead to progress on the pitch?

NEWCASTLE

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 7th

FA CUP: Quarter Finals

LEAGUE CUP: Quarter Finals

EUROPE: Champions League Group Stage

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Alexander Isak, 25

Newcastle had an injury disrupted season last season with Europe arguably being the main cause of it alongside a lack of strength in depth. No European football should definitely help them this season as they'll have fewer games to play and hopefully a full fit squad to choose from.

The Magpies had to sell one or two players at the start of the window to stay in line with PSR, but they did manage to keep hold of some of their key players including Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak. They've also still got manager Eddie Howe who has his focus fully on Newcastle after being linked with the England job following the departure of Gareth Southgate.

KEY PLAYER: ALEXANDER ISAK

Isak was on fire towards the end of last season as Newcastle ended the season strongly. If he can carry that form into this season, he could be the Magpies' new talisman.

PLAYER TO WATCH: HARVEY BARNES

Barnes had an injury-hit debut season at St James's Park last season but he did make some crucial contributions toward the end as they ended the season strongly. With a full pre-season under his belt and a full summer to work on his fitness, he'll be determined to show why the Magpies spent all that money on him.

PREDICTION: 7th

Not being in Europe will give them an advantage alongside having a full fit squad to choose from after an injury ravaged season last season. Because of this, they should secure a return to Europe.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 17th

FA CUP: 5th Round

LEAGUE CUP: 2nd Round

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Chris Wood, 15

Nottingham Forest will be looking to kick on this season after spending their previous two in the top flight fighting to avoid relegation. They have a manager who can do that in Nuno Espirito-Santo who has had a full summer to bring in his own players and build his own team. They'll also be hoping that their financial issues are put firmly behind them after being deducted points last season for breaching PSR. It didn't have a huge impact on their season as they stayed up reasonably comfortably.

KEY PLAYER: MORGAN GIBBS-WHITE

Gibbs-White has been Forest's main man for the last couple of seasons and will be again this season. Most of Forest's attacking play comes through him and when he's on his game, Forest are a dangerous side going forward.

PLAYER TO WATCH: NIKOLA MILENKOVIC

The defence has been Forest's Achilles heel since they've been in the Premier League and Milenkovic could be the man that fixes it. His experience of reaching back-to-back Europe Conference League finals with Fiorentina will hopefully make Forest a better team defensively.

PREDICTION: 17th

Nuno has had a full summer to bring in his own players ahead of his first full season in charge. There will be questions over them defensively, they'll have enough firepower to survive.

SOUTHAMPTON

LAST SEASONS STATS:

CHAMPIONSHIP: 4th (Play Off Winners)

FA CUP: 5th Round

LEAGUE CUP: 1st Round

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Adam Armstrong, 24

Southampton had one disaster of a campaign the last time they were in the top flight and they'll be hoping to fare much better this time round. Unlike the last time they were in the top flight, they have a clear identity in the way they play which is a possession based style of football. It's always important for a newly promoted side to have an identity and Russell Martin's will need to stick to it if they're to stay up.

KEY PLAYER: ADAM ARMSTRONG

Armstrong last season that he was more than capable of scoring in the Championship. But he hasn't been able to prove himself in the Premier League after netting just 4 times during his last spell there. He might have a better chance of proving himself this time round if his manager plays a system that suits him.

PLAYER TO WATCH: FLYNN DOWNES

Downes impressed whilst on loan at the Saints last season and was a key player for them during their promotion campaign. He was key to how they played in dictating the play at the base of the midfield and his importance in doing that will again be key if they're to stay up.

PREDICTION: 20th

They'll have a clear identity in the way they play, which is something they didn't have last time. But the team is short on quality at this level and because of that, i think they'll go straight back down.

TOTTENHAM

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 5th

FA CUP: 4th Round

LEAGUE CUP: 2nd Round

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Heung Min Son, 17

Spurs had a decent first campaign under Ange Postecoglou who got them playing an exciting brand of football. The Australian will to kick on this season which will be more challenging as other teams might've worked them out and the team itself being back in Europe. The signing of Dominic Solanke could be the difference for them this season as they lacked a clinical no.9 up top last season following the departure of Harry Kane. They did alright without Kane last season, but they still lacked that goal scoring centre forward up top.

KEY PLAYER: HEUNG MIN SON

Son was back to his best last season as he netted 17 goals in his first season captain and without fellow strike partner Harry Kane. Spurs are a much better side when he's around because of his energy, pace and work rate off and on the ball.

PLAYER TO WATCH: ARCHIE GRAY

Gray was the best young player in the Championship last season where he played the majority of Leeds's games at the age of 18. Spurs have been a club that develop young players in the past and Gray could be the next one in line.

PREDICTION: 5th

Being back in Europe will test them in terms of their squad depth and energy levels due to the brand of football they play. They'll carry on playing the same way, but I think they're one or two players shy of finishing in the top four.

WEST HAM

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 9th

FA CUP: 3rd Round

LEAGUE CUP: Quarter Finals

EUROPE: Europa League Quarter Finals

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Jarrod Bowen, 20

This is the start of a new era at West Ham under Julen Lopetegui who will be seen as someone who can take the club onto the next level. The Hammers have made some good signings this summer including Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville, both of whom will add both quality and depth to the Hammers attack which has a lot of options. Max Kilman and Aaron Wan Bissaka meanwhile will improve them defensively after conceding a lot of goals last season.

KEY PLAYER: JARROD BOWEN

Bowen was the Hammers' main man last season as he neeted 20 goals in all competitions. If he can have another season like last year, he could put himself right up there with the best attacking players in the league.

PLAYER TO WATCH: NICLAS FULLKRUG

The Hammers have lacked a clinical no.9 over the last couple of years and they might've finally found a solution to that in Fullkrug. The German scored 15 times in all competitions for Dortmund last season and if he gets the service he needs, he'll score goals.

PREDICTION: 9th

Not being in Europe will be a massive advantage and they have a manager in Lopetegui who can take them back there. They have made some decent signings this summer, but I don't see them bridging the gap on the teams above them.

WOLVES

LAST SEASONS STATS:

PREMIER LEAGUE: 14th

FA CUP: Quarter Finals

LEAGUE CUP: 3rd Round

EUROPE: N/A

TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS)

Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee Chan, 13

Wolves have had a better summer than they did last year in that they've been able to bring in players and keep hold of their manager. But they have lost two key players in captain Max Kilman and Pedro Neto who will both be big losses at both ends. Gary O'Neil did an great job last season given that he arrived on the eve of the season and he'll expect a more challenging season this year because of the two key players he has lost and his sides' lack of strength in depth, which cost them towards the end of last season.

KEY PLAYER: MATHEUS CUNHA

Wolves were a much improved side in the final third last season and Cunha was certainly someone who improved a lot as a player. He was Wolves' joint top goal scorer last season and if Wolves can keep him fit, they could threaten the top half.

PLAYER TO WATCH: TOMMY DOYLE

Doyle impressed whilst on loan at Molineux last season and his good performances were later rewarded with a permanent transfer. His energy in the middle of the park was key last season as Wolves kept themselves a good distance away from the relegation zone and will be again if they're to have a similar season this year.

PREDICTION: 14th

They had a better summer than last year in that they've been able to bringin players. Losing Kilman and Neto is a blow, but with a good manager in O'Neil, they could have another solid season.
