Midweek Premier League Predictions

WEDNESDAY:

LIVERPOOL V FULHAM

Liverpool have found some consistency for the first time this season with the recent results they've had which have got them right in the mix for a top four finish. Getting the attacking players back fit has been crucial to that as they finally appear to have their fluidity back.

They were lucky to beat Spurs on Sunday as Diogo Jota should've been sent off for his high foot on Oliver Skipp. But they were the better side on the day and especially in the first half. They did let Spurs back into it after half time but they still deserved the win on the day.

Fulham really went for it when the two sides met on the opening day of the season but a repeat of that performance here will be tough. They're playing at Anfield which is a tough place to go to and they'll again be without talisman Mitrovic who is still suspended.

Mitrovic caused Liverpool all kinds of problems in the reverse fixture and his absence for this game will be a major blow for the Cottagers. They're not the same team without him in the side and their recent slump can prove that.

PREDICTION: 2-0

I'm backing Liverpool here because they're in decent form and are at home where they have a good record. With Fulham without Mitrovic and one or two other ley players, the reds should have enough to win here.

MAN CITY V WEST HAM

Man City will see this as a must win game with being a game in hand and Arsenal's victory over Chelsea on Tuesday makes it more of a must win. They'll know the pressure they'll be under as they're used to being in this situation and are good at reacting to their competitors results.

Their season could be decided over the next few weeks as they've got the first leg of their Champions League semi final against Real Madrid this time next week. They might rest some of their big hitters in the league games with that game in mind and it could be what decides their season.

West Ham are not safe yet and very much still in the relegation mix. They're just four points above the drop zone and have a couple of tough games coming up against Man United and Brentford. After losing their last two games they could find themselves back in trouble. Especially if other results go against them.

PREDICTION: 2-1

I'm backing City to win this one because they're in such great form and will have more than enough quality to win this game. West ham may cause them the odd problem from set pieces but City should still have enough to win the game with the quality they possess.

THURSDAY:

BRIGHTON V MAN UNITED

These two met in the FA Cup semi finals a week and a half ago and the pair of them are back at it again against one another.

Brighton were unlucky not to win that semi final as they arguably had the better chances before losing the game in the cruellest way. They'll want to avenge that defeat in this one and they'll be determined to because of the mentality they've had for much of the season.

I was amazed that they beat Wolves as comfortably as they did on Saturday because I thought they might still be a bit tired from their semi final defeat the weekend end before. But that wasn't the case as they put in an outstanding performance and blew Wolves away.

Man United were beaten 4-0 in this fixture last season which highlighted the mess they were in at the time. They also lost the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season which showed how big a job Erik ten Hag had on his hands. They've improved considerably since both defeats but they still have work to do if they're to return to the top of English football.

Their away form is something they need to address and especially against sides in the top 10. They've lost 6 out of 8 games against the current top 10 and are up against another current top 10 side in Brighton. This could be another tough game on the road for United.

PREDICTION: 2-1

I fancy Brighton to win this one as United have struggled on the road against sides in the top 10. Roberto De Zerbi's side go into every game believing that they can get something and after losing to United in the FA Cup a week and a half ago, they'll be determined to avenge that defeat with a good result here.
