Man City v Liverpool: Combined XI's

CURRENT COMBINED 11:

GK: ALISSON - Both keepers are excellent. But in the end I went with Alisson because he's the no.1 for Brazil ahead of Ederson. The Liverpool is a great shot stopper and is god with his feet as well. When he's not there, Liverpool aren't as solid defensively.

RB: TRENT ALEXANDER ARNOLD - I had to put TAA in because I think he's the best right back in the league because of the amount of assists he's got over the last two seasons. He's changed the role of a full back by being creative and constantly bombing up and down the wing.

CB: VIRGIL VAN DIJK - He'll be out for the big one on Sunday, but when Van Dijk is fit and available, he's the best centre back in the world. He's a leader, he makes players around him better and is composed on the ball when its at his feet. Such a shame he's going to be out for a long time.

CB: AYMERIC LAPORTE - If I had to choose a partner for Van Dijk in this game it would be Laporte. He's great on the ball and is a solid defender. Man City missed him badly when he was out last season because they looked really shaky at the back for most of the season. They'll want to keep him fit so they can be more solid defensively.

LB: ANDREW ROBERTSON - It just had to be Robertson. He's easily the best left back in the Premier League because he's great both defensively and going forward plus he also creates a lot of chances. He's registered a lot of assists over the last two season and is key to the way that Liverpool play.

CDM: FABINHO - I've put Fabinho in because he snuffs out danger when he needs to, always looks forward with his passing and is solid in the middle of the park. I've put him ahead of Fernandinho because he's got more energy as he's younger than the City man who's getting on a bit.

CM: KEVIN DE BRUYNE - There was no way that I was leaving this guy out. De Bruyne is easily the best player in the Premier League and arguably the best midfielder in the world because of what he offers. He's got an incredible range of pass and he creates lots of chances for his teammates. He makes City a better team when he's in it.

CM: JORDAN HENDERSON - I've put the reds skipper in because he works hard for the team and has a lot of energy which is what you need in a central midfielder. This has helped him become a key player for Liverpool and has grown into a very good leader over the last few years.

RW: MOHAMED SALAH - I've put Salah in ahead of Sterling because of his goal record since he's been at Liverpool. The Egyptian has notched up over 80 goals since he's been at Anfield thanks to his pace and all round attacking play. He's grown into one of the best attacking players in Europe since he's been at Liverpool.

ST: SERGIO AGUERO - No doubt that Aguero was to be the striker. He scores any kind of goal and is always a handful for the opposition. He's been the best striker in the Premier League for the last decade because of the amount of goals he's scored since he's been in England.

LW: SADIO MANE - I was never going to leave Mane out of this team. His pace causes the opposition all kinds of problems and has grown into a world class player since he's been at Liverpool. He's the best left sided attacker between the two sides for sure.

ALL TIME COMBINED 11:

GK: JOE HART - I've put Hart in because he was a top keeper on his day during his time at City by making big saves at vital moments in games. He's won more golden gloves than any other keeper and is in my team because of longevity.

RB: PABLO ZABALETA - Zabaleta is in because he was a complete full back on his day. He was solid defensively and was a threat going forward when he needed to be. He was arguably the best right back in the league when he was at his best because of how good he was defensively and offensively.

CB: VIRGIL VAN DIJK - I've put Van Dijk over Carragher because I think he was a better player than the former scouse defender. He's become the best defender in the world since he's been at Anfield by being calm on the ball and timing his tackles to perfection.

CB: VINCENT KOMPANY - How City have missed this guy since he left. I've put Kompany in because he was a leader at the back and was a solid defender. He made City a better side defensively when he was available because of his leadership and was the best defender in the league when at his best.

LB: ANDREW ROBERTSON - If I had to choose one left between the two clubs it would be Robertson all day of the week because he was great at both ends of the pitch and he creates lots of chances for his teammates. He's changed the way a full back plays by creating chances and constantly bombing up and down the flank.

CDM: STEVEN GERRARD - He wasn't always a DM, but Gerrard did do a job in this position as he got older. He still had the wonderful range of passing he always had and was still the same tough tackling midfielder. He was an all round action midfielder.

CM: KEVIN DE BRUYNE - I had to put this guy this team because he's grown into a world class midfielder ever since he's been at City. He bagged a lot of assists and has a wonderful passing range which is what makes him one of the best players in the world.

CM: DAVID SILVA - Silva took City onto another level when he signed from Valencia in 2010. He could beat players with his silky skills and was a magician in the middle of the park as City won four league titles during his time there. I would be mad to leave him out of this combined 11.

RW: MOHAMED SALAH - Salah is easily the best right sided attacker between the two clubs in the Premier League era. He's scored lots of goals ever since he's been at Liverpool and has grown into one of the best attackers in Europe. His pace and all round game is a nightmare for defenders to play against.

ST: SERGIO AGUERO - Aguero is without a doubt the best striker in the Premier League era between the two clubs. He's scored any kind of goal ever since and has become one of the best strikers in the world ever since he's been in England. He took City onto the next level via the quality of player he is and the amount of goals he's scored.

LW: SADIO MANE - Mane is easily the best left sided attacking player between these two clubs because of his pace and the amount of goals he's scored since he's been at Anfield. He's become a key player for reds ever since he arrived and has grown into the one of the best attacking players in Europe.
