Key Points of the Weekend

Is it time for Arsenal to put Aaron Ramsdale back in goal?

One of the main talking points of this season has without a doubt been the goalkeeping battle at Arsenal between Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya. Many eyebrows were raised when they decided to bring in Raya on loan from Brentford as they already had a top keeper in Ramsdale who was in the PFA Team of the Year last season. I've questioned the decision ever since.

Raya appears to be winning the battle to be first choice keeper having played the last few games but his performances have received mixed reviews. He hasn't looked comfortable when playing out from the back as he's given the ball away when trying to play out on a number of occasions.

He had another one of those occasions against Chelsea on Saturday when he gave the ball away to Cole Palmer during the second half. But luckily for him, Palmer didn't take his chance. He was also at fault for Chelsea's second goal as he was in a poor position when Mykhailo Mudryk's shot looped over him.

So is it time for Arsenal to put Aaron Ramsdale back in?

I didn't think Ramsdale did nothing wrong to lose his place to Raya in the first place and in my opinion should still be their first choice keeper. He's more comfortable in possession of the ball and he might've dealt with Mudryk's goal better than Raya did.

It looks like Arteta will stick by him having made him his preferred choice in goal. But if he continues to struggle, it could be time for him to put Ramsdale back in.

Are Aston Villa pushing for Europe again?

11 straight wins at home and just a point outside the top four. Villa are absolutely flying under Unai Emery and they look like a team who are going places under his management. So are they pushing for Europe again?

Their recent form will definitely give them a lot of confidence heading into the rest of the season but the only thing that could hold them back is their lack of squad depth. I questioned Villa's squad depth at the start of the season because of them being in Europe and it's something that could catch up with them later in the season.

They do have players on their bench who can come on and make a difference like Leon Bailey and Youri Tielemans did against West Ham on Sunday. But they're still missing a few players through injury and are likely to pick up more as the season progresses because of them being in Europe.

Their decent start to the season and current form will give them a lot of momentum but their chances of sustaining a challenge for Europe will depend on their squad depth. Especially later in the season where they'll have to play a lot of games.
