Key Points of the Weekend

Are Arsenal's title hopes already over?

A number of people will have had Arsenal down to potentially go on and win the title this season after pushing Man City close in each of the last two seasons. But now their titles chances appear to be in doubt after failing to win each of their last three games, which have left them seven points leaders Liverpool and outside the top four.

So are Arsenal's title hopes over already?

It has been a tough season for Arsenal so far as they've had players unavailable due to injuries as suspension. Out of all the players they've had unavailable, Martin Odegaard has been the bigger miss because they've missed his creativity and ability to run games from midfield. They did cope well without him after the opening weeks of the season, but in recent weeks, they've missed his influence.

The seven point deficit between them and Liverpool will be difficult for them to reduce as Liverpool are in good form and are bound to get better as the season progresses.

I wouldn't say that their hopes are over just yet as it's we're only in November and there's plenty of time for them to put themselves back in contention. But if result don't pick up over the next few weeks, they could find themselves out of the race.

Are Nottingham Forest European contenders?

Nottingham Forest kept up their fine start to the season at the weekend following their win over West Ham, which moved them up to third in the Premier League. This got me asking if they're European contenders.

They would have taken survival at the start of the season after spending the last two seasons fighting relegation. But the owners would've wanted them to kick on and they've done that with the start they've made.

What will help them is that they have a manager who has had lead a team into Europe before in Nuno, who guided Wolves into the Europa League back in the 2018/19 season. He did the same again the following season, only for Arsenal's FA Cup win denying them a spot.

Their strong start and current form will definitely give them confidence as they'll want to keep it up. But in the second half of the season, the pressure will begin to build and that is when their chances will be put to the test.

Should Lisandro Martinez have been sent off?

Lisandro Martinez appeared to clip the knee of Cole Palmer during Man United's 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday with his boot being quite high. He was given a yellow card for the foul, but there were some people who thought it should've been a red.

This got me asking whether Martinez should've been sent off.

Martinez's foot was high when he clipped Palmer's knee, but he didn't go in on him hard, which could the reason why the referee didn't send him off. But there was definitely a case for Martinez to be sent off because of his foot being high.

Most high footed challenges are seen as red card offences as they're dangerous and could danger the safety of the player who has been fouled.

Martinez was definitely lucky not to have seen a red as his challenge was dangerous due to his foot being high. But his challenge didn't severely injured Palmer as he was quite close to him and didn't go in on him at speed.
