Key Points of the Weekend

Hurzeler proving that age is just a number

Many eyebrows will have been raised when Brighton appointed Fabian Hurzeler as their new manager because of how young he is. He's made a good start as Seagulls boss as he's won his opening two games in charge against Everton and Man United. He's proving that age is just a number.

I always see appointing young managers as a risk for any club and especially when they have very little experience at the top level. I saw that in Hurzeler as he had no experience in managing at the top level when he was managing in Germany.

I knew he would play an attacking brand of football like Potter and De Zerbi before him, but I thought that he would take time to get used to the ruthlessness of the Premier League because of him being a young manager who had no experience of managing at the top level.

It doesn't matter how young you are, it only matters if you're good enough and he has shown that with the impressive start he has made.

Man United still lacking leaders

Man United have lacked leaders in their team for some years and they still do after watching their defending for the goals they conceded against Brighton.

Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro were both given a lot of space for their goals and the defending was down to poor organisation and a lack of leaders on the pitch. There was no talking among the defenders in the lead-up to both goals and there was no one to get the defence organised.

United have lacked leaders in their team pretty much ever since Ferguson left and although they have signed defenders this summer, none of them are leader material. They're still looking to bring in players before the window closes and they should look for players that are leaders.

Everton missing Branthwaite

In their final season at Goodison Park, Everton have made the worst possible start as they're bottom of the league with no points and have conceded 7 goals after just two games.

They've been a strong and organised team defensively under Sean Dyche and for them to concede the amount they've conceded is just unheard of. One player who made them tough defensively last season was Jarrad Branthwaite who was exceptional for them last season. But he has missed the first two games due to injury and his absence has clearly been felt.

The partnership and Branthwaite and Tarkowski had last season was instrumental to the Toffees staying up last season as they had one of the best defences in the league.

Michael Keane has partnered Tarkowski in both games this season and his someone that Sean Dyche knows from his time at Burnley. But he doesn't have the same understanding with Tarkowski as Branthwaite does, despite both him and Tarkowksi having played together at Burnley under Dyche.

Branthwaite was one of Everton's standout performers last season by being both very solid at the back in making key interventions, and being effective in both boxes. The Toffees have missed that so far this season and they need to get him back quickly.

Have Chelsea found their best attacking formula?

Chelsea didn't click in the final third in their opening game against Man City despite all the other positives they took from the game. But against Wolves, their attack clicked as they put in a ruthless and cohesive display to win the game 6-2. With their attacking players on form and linking up well, have they found their best attacking formula?

Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke in particular linked well as Palmer assisted all three of Madueke's goals and linked up with him several other times during the game. Palmer played in the no.10 position against Wolves and most people believe that to be his best position. With the performance that both he and Madueke put in, those two are surely now guaranteed starters.

That leaves the the left hand side and centre forward position up for grabs. Mykhailo Mudryk and Nicolas Jackson started in those positions respectively against Wolves with Jackson having the better game as he scored the opening goal. Both players were later replaced by Pedro Neto and Joao Felix who both combined for the winning goal.

Neto could take the spot on the left as that is where he is suited best. Felix's best position is still up for debate after playing a number of different roles during his career. He's likely to fight it out for the striker's spot along with Jackson and Nkunku.

Chelsea do have a massive squad, but if their attacking players continue to click, Enzo Maresca could be close to finding his best team.
