Key Points of the Weekend

Hudson-Odoi fulfilling early promise

Callum Hudson-Odoi was one of the brightest young talents when he was at Chelsea, but he didn't show it enough. But at Nottingham Forest he's beginning to show the promise he had as he's getting regular game time and is making the most of the opportunities he's getting.

He's netted 7 times since joining Forest in the summer which marks a decent debut season for him. Two of those goals came in Forest's 3-1 win at Sheffield United on Saturday where he was impressive throughout. He caused the Blades all kinds of problems with his pace and movement and both of his goals were very well taken.

He's playing with confidence and looks like a player who is beginning to live up to the promise many people expected from him.

Will Erling Haaland break Sergio Aguero's hat trick record?

Erling Haaland netted his 6th Premier League on Saturday in Man City's 5-1 win over Wolves where he went on to score four. He's now six behind Sergio Aguero's record of 12 and the question now is: Will he break that record?

If he stays in England over the next couple of seasons, he's definitely got a chance because of the goal scoring machine he is. He'll probably get at least two or three next season as he's bound to bag another load of goals next season. Especially if he can stay free of injury.

His chances of breaking that record will depend on how long he plays in the Premier League as a big club like Real Madrid could come swooping for him. If he stays for at least the next couple of seasons and continues to be the goal scoring machine he already is, he could break that record.

Are Chelsea finally looking like a team?

Chelsea have been disjointed for most of the season like they were for the majority of last season. But recently they have shown signs that they're beginning to come together and their win over West Ham was another example of that. So are they finally looking like a team?

Their performance against West Ham was arguably their most cohesive performance of the season as the players linked up well and the team itself was more together as a unit. The performance will definitely give them a lot of confidence but whether they can follow it up remains to be seen.

The blues have been very inconsistent all season and their inconsistency is why they've been nowhere near the top four. They have had some good moments at times during the season, but they haven't produced on a regular basis.

They do have some winnable games to end the season with and if they can play like they did against West Ham in their remaining fixtures, the question could well be answered.

West Ham appointment of Lopetegui unfair

West Ham announced that a deal was agreed for Julen Lopetegui to take over earlier today, but it came before David Moyes announced that he was leaving the club at the end of the season. At the time I felt that decision was unfair because David Moyes is still the manager and there was no reports of him being sacked.

If you're to appoint a new manager for your football club, you should appoint him when your current manager leaves, not when he's still in charge. David Moyes has since announced that he's leaving the club at the end of the season, but the decision to appoint Lopetegui should've been made after Moyes announced that he was leaving, not before.

Maybe the club should've sacked Moyes before making the decision to appoint Lopetegui. That would probably be the more professional decision instead of appointing Lopetegui whilst Moyes is still in charge.

Man United need summer clear out

This has been said about Man United quite a lot in recent years and I said it yet again after their humiliating display against Crystal Palace on Monday. Their performance on the night suggested that they're in need of yet another summer clear out.

I thought they cleared out all the dead wood when Erik Ten Hag took over but as last nights performance showed, there are still a number of underperforming players in that Man United squad. The team have underperformed all season and are in danger of missing out on European football altogether next season.

Sir Jim Radcliffe already has a big task on his hands this summer as he begins his rebuild and restructure of the entire football club. First thing he must do is deal with Erik Ten Hag's future which has been uncertain for a while now. Last night's defeat might've sealed it already.
