Is David Jatro Fofana the man to fire Burnley to safety?
Burnley came from 2-0 down to rescue a 2-2 draw with Fulham on Saturday and the man at the heart of it was new loan signing David Jatro Fofana, whose two goals completed the comeback for the Clarets. Could he be the man to fire Burnley to Premier League survival?
One thing that Burnley have lacked this season is a centre forward who can put the ball in the back of the net and it's one of the main reasons why they're struggling this season. They've found the net just 24 times this season with only Sheffield United scoring fewer.
Fofana's double against Fulham will definitely give him a lot of confidence as scoring goals can do that to a striker. Vincent Kompany will need him to build on his promising start if his side are to stay up because they need to win more games and they can only do that by scoring more goals. If Fofana can score goals on a consistent basis, the Clarets could be in with a chance.
Are Chelsea's days as a big club coming to an end?
It's been another frustrating season for Chelsea who currently sit in 11 place and are 5 points off the European places, not to mention 15 points off the top four. Could their days as a big club be coming to an end?
The blues finished 12th last season and were hoping for a much better season this season, especially with a top class coach like Mauricio Pochettino in charge. But it's been anything but that as they again spent a lot of money on several players, which has lead to an incohesive team and are still lacking a goal scorer, a problem that plagued them for the whole of last season.
They are in the middle of a long term project which takes time plus they also have a lot of young players who could be key for them in the future. But you still need to have some experienced players in the team to help the young players and set an example in the dressing room.
They've also struggled in defence as well as in attack as they've conceded a lot of goals one of the reasons for that has been down to a lack of leaders in that department. Their squad in general lacks leaders because of the amount of young players they have. They're missing a John Terry/Frank Lampard kind of figure both on the pitch and in the dressing room.
They might prove me wrong about their days as a big club coming to an end but if they finish in mid-table again this season, it could be the end to their days as a big club.
Wolves finally have firepower in their attack
For the last two seasons Wolves' main problem was scoring goals but this season that hasn't been the case. They're more clinical in the final third and have players in their attack who are capable of scoring goals.
Matheus Cunha netted a hat trick in their 4-2 win at Chelsea on Sunday to take his tally for the season up to 9 whilst Hwang Hee Chan has 10. Both players already have more goals than Wolves' top scorers from the last two seasons have.
A lot of people thought goals would be a struggle for them again this season as they didn't make many signings in the summer, including a striker due to financial restrictions. They lost arguably their best forward in Raul Jimenez to Fulham during the summer which left them short on goals in attack, despite Jimenez not being the player he was before his skull injury. But the attacking players in their squad have stepped up brilliantly and it's because of them, Wolves no longer have a problem in scoring goals.
Arsenal victory over Liverpool puts them back in title race
Arsenal's title hopes were beginning to fade after Christmas following back to back defeats to West Ham and Fulham, which left them in 4th place and 5 points behind leaders Liverpool, who were gaining in momentum. But after beating Liverpool at Sunday to move within two points of them, the Gunners are now back in the title race.
It was a game they definitely needed to win as anything less than a win would've ended their title chances. They played like it was a must win game as they started the game on the front foot and kept up the intensity for most of the match. Their pressing was very good throughout as they barely gave Liverpool time on the ball and Liverpool struggle to deal with it.
Both the result and the performance sent out a message to both City and Liverpool saying that they're still fighting for the title. If they can play like they did against Liverpool for the rest of the season, they could push both City and Liverpool close.
Foden must start for England at Euros
Phil Foden has been one of Man City's key men this season and he kept up his good form with a hat trick in Man City's 3-1 win at Brentford on Monday night. With the form he's in and the performance he put in last night, he surely must start for England at the Euros this summer.
No matter where he plays he still has to start because of the talented player he is and the season he is currently having for Man City. He's either going to play out wide or centrally depending on what formation Gareth Southgate will use this summer. If he plays a 4-2-3-1, Foden will most likely be used out wide as Jude Bellingham will occupy the no.10 position. If he plays a 4-3-3 which I think is the system that England should use, Foden will hopefully in midfield with Bellingham as I think that is his best position and the position I think he will end up in. With Declan Rice in the no.6 role doing what he does, that will give Foden and Bellingham the freedom to express themselves further up the pitch.
He's impressed in a central role on a number of occasions this season including against Brentford on Monday and his performances there will hopefully convince Southgate to play him there more. I would like to see him play central as he's a good carrier of the ball and you need to have someone in that midfield who can carry the ball forward. He also has an excellent range of passing which is another quality that any midfield player must possess.
England do have a lot of options in the central midfield area and I think Foden should be near the top of the list as to who will start there come the summer.
