FA Cup 3rd Round Draw Verdict

The draw for the 3rd Round of the FA Cup was made earlier today and there are some very interesting ties to look forward to next month.

Arsenal taking on Liverpool is without a doubt the tie of the round because of the size of both clubs and the quality of players they both have. Both teams will be among the favourites to win the competition because of the calibre of teams they are.

League 2 Gillingham have the chance to cause a massive upset as they'll be taking on Premier League strugglers Sheffield United. They'll fancy themselves to cause an upset here as they're having a decent season in League 2. They currently sit in 7th place.

League 1 Blackpool or League 2 Forest Green Rovers have the chance to cause a major upset as either of them will be taking on Premier League Nottingham Forest. Blackpool beat Forest at this very stage last season and they'll believe that they could do the same again if they beat Forest Green in their 2nd Round replay. If Forest Green win that replay, they would have the chance to pull off one of the biggest shocks in history of the competition because of the size of club they are compared to Forest.

2013 winners Wigan have a chance to cause a major upset as they'll be taking on Man United who reached the final last season losing to eventual winners City. A win for Wigan would pretty much end United's season as they're pretty much out of every other competition they're in.

We could also have another shock from a League 1 side in Bolton who will be taking on Premier League Luton. It would've been the other way round had this fixture been played 10 years ago when Bolton were in the Championship and Luton were in non league.

A number of Championship sides could be in for major upsets including Preston and Huddersfield who take on Chelsea and holders Man City respectively. These two sides will be among the favourites to win the competition.

Championship strugglers QPR and Rotherham both have the chance to cause major shocks also with QPR facing Bournemouth and Rotherham taking on Fulham. Other Championship sides who could potentially cause an upset include Stoke who take on Brighton, Bristol City who take on West Ham and Middlesbrough who take on Aston Villa. We also have a Tyne-Wear derby to look forward as Sunderland meet Newcastle for the first time in seven years.

There are also a few all-Premier League clashes to look forward to with Spurs taking on Burnley, Crystal Palace facing Everton and Brentford taking on Wolves.
