England 3-0 Wales: Player Ratings

England beat Wales 3-0 last night in a friendly and this is how I rated each England player.

NICK POPE - 7

Solid performance between the sticks. Made saves when he needed to including a vital stop to deny Kieffer Moore. He's starting to make a case to be England's no.1.

KIERON TRIPPIER - 7

As well as wearing the armband in the absence of Harry Kane, The Atletico Madrid full back assisted Conor Coady's goal with the well delivered free kick and was reasonably solid defensively.

JOE GOMEZ - 6

Had a better game than the one he played in on Sunday by making some vital blocks and was rarely tested. Didn't do too much wrong.

CONOR COADY - 8

Top performance from the Wolves skipper. Scored the second goal and was very solid at the back for the Three Lions. Made vital tackles and blocks and finished the game with the armband.

MICHAEL KEANE - 6

Didn't have too much to do in the game and was barely tested. Other than that it was a reasonably solid performance from the Everton defender.

BUKAYO SAKA - 7

Impressive debut from the Arsenal youngster after a nervous start. Was solid defensively and was occasionally a threat going forward.

KALVIN PHILLIPS - 6

Committed a few fouls early on in the game, but had a fairly solid game overall. Played some nice neat passes and set a chance up with that long pass to Harvey Barnes towards the end.

HARRY WINKS - 7

Good display in the middle of the park from the Spurs midfielder. Played some good passes to teammates and made some good tackles as well.

JACK GREALISH - 8

Assisted the first goal and was a threat throughout. Wanted to do something when he had the ball and always wanted to create something.

DOMINIC CALVERT LEWIN - 8

Scored on his debut with a header from Grealish's cross and was handful for the Wales defence. MAde lots of runs and won lots of aerial duels. A complete strikers performance.

DANNY INGS - 7

Wasn't in the game much in the first half because he was used out wide. But when Calvert Lewin came off, he was more of a threat down the middle and it was shown with his well taken goal.

SUBS:

TYRONE MINGS - 6

Didn't have too much to do defensively after coming on for the Gomez. But was vital at the other end by assisting Danny Ings with his header to set up a bicycle kick for the Southampton man.

MASON MOUNT - 7

Wanted to get on the ball at every opportunity and created a chance for Saka late on. He was constantly trying to create chance for his teammates.

REECE JAMES - 6

Very solid defensively on his debut by making key interventions and he wanted to get forward despite not creating much. Solid debut overall for the Chelsea right back.

JAMES WARD PROWSE - 5

Played some nice neat passes and wanted to work hard by closing down the opposition and tried to play the odd long pass as well. But didn't create any major chances.

AINSLEY MAITLAND NILES - 6

Got forward well and was a threat the moment he came on. Took on a few players to try and create a chance and almost got an assist when he played Danny Ings through before his shot was saved by Hennessey.

HARVEY BARNES - 5

Had a chance to set himself up from Kalvin Phillips' long pass but didn't make the most of it. Didn't show off his quality much either.
