England beat the Republic of Ireland 3-0 in a friendly last night and this is how I rated each England player.
NICK POPE - 7
Another solid game for the Burnley keeper. Made some good punches to clear the ball and overall was olid with his hands.
REECE JAMES - 8
Brilliant at both ends of the pitch. Going forward he caused problems by getting balls into the box and defensively was solid by being well positioned and taking some good tackles. He's developing into a very good full back.
MICHAEL KEANE - 6
Was barely tested but when he was he did his job well. Played a few decent passes when the ball was at his feet and had a fairly solid and untroubled game overall.
HARRY MAGUIRE - 8
Top display from the skipper on the night. Scored the opening goal and was brilliant at the back by winning headers and winning tackles. He was a threat in both boxes and is putting his tough start to the season behind him.
TYRONE MINGS - 7
Solid display from the Villa defender. Made lots of vital tackles and blocks when he needed to and was solid at the back throughout. He even had a few chances at the other end as well.
BUKAYO SAKA - 7
Was a threat down the left hand side all game. Got balls into the box and had a few chances to score himself. He's made a good step up to the senior squad.
HARRY WINKS - 7
Set up the first goal and put in a controlled display in midfield. Played some good passes and put in some decent tackles as well which is what you want from a midfielder playing deep.
MASON MOUNT - 8
Brilliant display from the Chelsea man in a deeper role. Was a threat from set pieces and always wanted to join in with the attack by taking a few shots at goal. Played some lovely passes into the frontmen and was disciplined in the midfield as well.
JADON SANCHO - 7
Scored the second goal with a good strike into the bottom corner and caused the Irish defence problems by drifting across the frontline and getting balls in the box.
DOMINIC CALVERT LEWIN - 7
Held the ball up well and scored a very good penalty into the top corner. Almost set up a teammate in the first half and had one or two chances from open play as well.
JACK GREALISH - 8
Misplaced a few passes but was always looking to create something. He was always after the ball by running into pockets of space and was a threat throughout. He's definitely knocking on the door for a starting place against Belgium on Sunday.
SUBS:
DEAN HENDERSON - 7
Solid display on his international debut. Didn't have much to do after he came on but when tested, he was ready and alert by making some smart saves.
AINSLEY MAITLAND NILES - 7
Was a threat down the right hand side when he came on like he was against Wales and always wanted to create something. Another good display for the Arsenal man.
PHIL FODEN - 6
Looked neat with his passing and almost got an assist when he whipped in a cross for Tammy Abraham. Didn't have a lot to do but still put in a decent display on his return to the international stage.
TAMMY ABRAHAM - 5
Didn't do much when he came on. He had one chance late late on, but it didn't fall to him in time as he was just a few yards short.
JUDE BELLINGHAM - 6
Not a bad performance by the 17 year-old on his senior debut. Played some good passes and was disciplined in midfield. He'll be looking to add more caps in the future.
