Champions League Final 2023 Preview

PROBABLE STARTING LINE UPS FOR BOTH SIDES

Will this be the day that Man City finally fulfil their destiny? They've won everything in England multiple times and now can they win the crowning jewel that is the Champions League? They head into this final as strong favourites and are looking a more complete side than they have done in recent seasons.

Pep Guardiola has been criticised for overthinking in this competition in recent seasons but this year there is a different feel. He knows what his best team is, his side manage games in Europe much better and in Erling Haaland they have someone who is clinical in the box which is something they didn't have last season.

Haaland has very much been their main man this season but their most in-form player right now has to be Ilkay Gundogan. He netted twice in their FA Cup final win over Man United on Saturday and made a number of vital contributions during the latter stages of the season. He'll be another key player for them in this final.

Inter Milan weren't expecting themselves to reach this stage of the competition and although they're massive underdogs, they still have players who can hurt City. Lautauro Martinez and former City striker Edin Dzeko are the players who are more likely to cause City some damage. If they're on it and get service from the midfield, they could test that City backline.

Their game plan will be to get men behind the ball so they can frustrate City before hitting them on the counter as City are likely to see have most of the possession. Inter are on organised side defensively under Simeone Inzaghi under whom they always set themselves up to be hard to beat. They'll need to be that here as City are capable of punishing any side who make a mistake.

PREDICTION:

I'm backing City to get the treble done here because they have more in quality and are a more complete side than they have been in recent seasons. Inter will try and make it difficult for them but I think City will be too strong for them.

FS: 3-1
