PROBABLE STARTING LINES FOR BOTH SIDES
Man City have won this competition for the last three seasons and will be looking to make it a fourth by winning this one. They've won the League Cup 5 times in the last 7 seasons in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020 and a win in this final will draw them level with Liverpool's record of 8 titles as City are currently on 7. They're been the dominant team in this competition over the last three seasons and their dominance looks set to continue for another year as they're the favourites in this final.
Their hopes of the quadruple may have ended last weekend as they were beaten by Chelsea in the FA Cup semi finals. But they still have a chance of winning the treble which is still a magnificent achievement. They're a few wins away from the Premier League title and they're in the semi finals of the Champions League as well as being in this Carabao Cup final against Spurs. A win in this cup final will hopefully give them the confidence to win the treble because they would have one trophy in the bag if they won and it will therefore give them the hunger to win more. But we'll have to wait and see if that is to be the case.
This could be one of the strangest cup finals we'll ever see because one of the teams doesn't have a permanent manager in charge. Ryan Mason will be leading Spurs out for this one against Pep Guardiola's Man City which on paper looks like a complete mismatch because of the experience they both have between them.
Ryan Mason got his managerial career off to a winning start in midweek by beating Southampton where his Spurs side came from behind to win the game. He became the youngest ever Premier League manager on that day at just 29 years of age and he'll probably be the youngest ever manager to manage a League Cup final in this one.
Spurs will be at a major disadvantage in this one because they won't have talisman Harry Kane available following the injury he picked up against Everton last weekend. Spurs will have Heung Min Son available which will be massive for them. But without Kane in the team, they're not the same going forward because of the goals he scores and the chances he creates for his teammates. Without a player of his quality in a cup final and against a team like City, Spurs' chances look very thin.
PREDICTION:
I'm going for a City win in this final because they have a much stronger team than Spurs. They may be without De Bruyne and Aguero through injury, but they still have a strong enough squad to beat any one because of the strength in depth they have. Because of that I think they'll win this cup yet again.
