Best 50 Players of the Season 2023/24

Many players have lit up the Premier League this season with the goals they've scored, the performances they've put in or the crucial interventions they've made.

Now let's see who made it onto my top 50 players of the season list.

50. Antonee Robinson - Fulham

No player made more interceptions than Robinson this season as he was defensively sound all season. He was also effective going forward as he s always offered an attacking threat and registered 6 assists. His work at both ends was a real asset for Fulham as he was one of their standout performers.

49. Jean-Philippe Mateta - Crystal Palace

For the last few seasons, Palace have lacked a no.9 who can put the ball in the net. They've finally found that player in Mateta who ended the campaign with 16 goals and 11 of them came after Oliver Glasner was appointed. He's been a completely different player since the Austrian took over and is set to be a key player for them next season.

48. Pedro Neto - Wolves

Neto made such a difference for Wolves when he was available and especially in the first part of the season. He registered 9 assists as Wolves stayed well away from trouble and had it not been for injuries, he might've been higher up the list.

47. Eberechi Eze - Crystal Palace

He might've had one or two injury problems throughout the season but Eze still managed to score 11 goals in 27 games which is a pretty decent return. Palace were a much better side when he was available because of what he offered from an attacking point of view and they'll have a big job on their hands in the summer in trying to keep hold of him.

46. Matheus Cunha - Wolves

Wolves were a much improved side in the final third this season and too was Cunha. He scored 10 goals this season which was 10 more than the amount he got last season and his improvement in front of goal was key to Wolves staying well out of trouble.

45. Leon Bailey - Aston Villa

Bailey has been one of Villa's most improved players under Unai Emery and he certainly showed it this season. He registered 10 goals and 9 assists as Villa finished in the top four and was finally looking like the player they got from Bayer Leverkusen three seasons ago.

44. Bruno Guimaraes - Newcastle

It might've been a challenging season for Newcastle, but Guimaraes once again stood out. The Magpies are a much better side when he was available because of the quality he brings to the team and his form towards the end of the season was crucial to the Magpies ending the season strongly.

43. Mohammed Kudus - West Ham

It took Kudus time to get going in a Hammers shirt and once he was up and running, he went on to become a key player for them. His 8 goals and 6 assists were key to the Hammers finishing where they did as he went on to become one of their standout performers.

42. Hwang Hee-Chan - Wolves

Hwang was Wolves' top scorer this season with 12 goals which was more than he managed in the last two seasons combined. Wolves were a much better side in front of goal this season because of the form he was in and Wolves' season began to peter out when he was out injured towards the end.

41. James Tarkowski - Everton

Everton had such a solid defence this season and Tarkowski was one of the reasons why. He made more blocks than any other players this season and every single one of them was key in Everton staying in games and avoiding relegation.

40. Trent Alexander-Arnold - Liverpool

Alexander-Arnold played in a hybrid role this season which allowed him to move into midfield and take control of games. The reds were a much better team when he was on the pitch because of the creativity he brings to the team and had it not been for that injury he suffered during the winter, he might've had better numbers and been higher up the list.

39. Chris Wood - Nottingham Forest

Wood scored 4 goals as Forest stayed up this season with most of them coming during the final stages of the season. He's been Forest's main striker since Nuno Espirito Santo took over and he has repaid him with the goals he's scored.

38. Alexis Mac Allister - Liverpool

It took Mac Allister time to settle in at Liverpool but once he was once, he went on to become a key player for them. He did a decent job when used in the no.6 role and when he was pushed further up the pitch, we began to see the best of him as he scored some crucial goals and put in a good shift for the team.

37. Morgan Gibbs-White - Nottingham Forest

Gibbs-White once again stepped up as Forest's main man this season with his 5 goals and 10 assists being crucial to Forest staying up. If he can better his goals tally next season, he could put himself in contention for an England call up.

36. Kevin De Bruyne - Man City

He might've missed the first half of the season through injury, but when he came back De Bruyne made such a difference. He registered 10 assists in 18 games as City won a fourth straight title and he once again showed why he's one of the best players in the world with his vision and ability to control games.

35. Jarrad Branthwaite - Everton

Branthwaite has been one of the rising stars of the season as he became a mainstay in the Everton team. He was rock solid right throughout the season by making many crucial interventions and forming a solid partnership with James Tarkowski. His good performances were later rewarded with an England call up.

34. Kai Havertz - Arsenal

It took a while for Havertz to get going in an Arsenal shirt but once he was up and running, he became one of their most important players. His 13 goals and 7 assists were all crucial as Arsenal pushed City all the way in the title race and his move to the false-9 position helped him find his form.

33. Guglielmo Vicario - Tottenham

Vicario kept Spurs in games time and time again this season by making many crucial and big saves. Spurs were lacking a reliant shot-stopper for years as Hugo Lloris was a player in decline and they've finally found a good enough replacement for him in Vicario.

32. David Raya - Arsenal

He might've had some dodgy moments earlier in the season but as the season progressed, Raya's performances improved and showed why he was preferred to Aaron Ramsdale in goal. He made some crucial saves when his team needed him to and he won the golden glove quite comfortably with 16 clean sheets.

31. Pedro Porro - Tottenham

Porro has been one of the most productive full backs this season as he registered 3 goals and 7 assists, the latter being more than any other full back in the league. He's been key to how Spurs have played under Ange Postecoglou this season with his bursting runs forward and energy.

30. Joao Palhinha - Fulham

Palhinha made more tackles than any other player this season and his presence in front of the Fulham defence once again made them tough to beat. The Cottagers will again have a big job on their hands in trying to keep hold of him this season as there will again be a number of clubs interested in him.

29. Wataru Endo - Liverpool

It took time for Endo to adapt to the Premier League and to Liverpool's style of play. But once he was fully adjusted, he went on to become one the reds' most important players. His endless energy and tenacity were key in how the reds played off the ball and he was arguably the bargain of the season.

28. Kyle Walker - Man City

Walker was named City captain at the start of the season and he stepped up to the challenge straight away. Alongside stepping up as a leader on the pitch, his overall performances were also key as his performances at both ends were key to City winning another title. He might be getting on a bit, but he still has the same pace he's always had.

27. Alisson - Liverpool

Alisson has once again shown how important he is to Liverpool this season by keeping them in games time and time again with a number of crucial saves. He's been a solid presence between the sticks all season and without him, the reds might not have finished where they did.

26. Leandro Trossard - Arsenal

Trossard was a key player for Arsenal during their title challenge as he netted 12 goals and all of them were crucial in them pushing City all the way. With form in the second half of the season kept Gabriel Martinelli out of the side.

25. Jordan Pickford - Everton

Pickford has saved Everton's skins many times over the last few seasons and he did so again this season. He made many crucial saves right throughout the season as the Toffees stayed up and without him, the Toffees would've probably gone down.

24. Ezri Konsa - Aston Villa

Konsa has arguably been one of the most underrated defenders in the Premier League over the last few years and it's about time we give him the credit he deserves. He's been solid at the back all season for Villa impressing both at centre back and at right back. His good form earlier in the season earned him a deserved England call up.

23. Douglas Luiz - Aston Villa

Luiz has been one of Villa's most improved players since Unai Emery took over and also one of their most important. He's protected the back four well with his tenacity and he's also popped up with some crucial contributions at the other end as he netted 9 goals.

22. Bernardo Silva - Man City

Silva has been one of City's most important players this season as he's popped up with some crucial goals and has worked his socks off in the midfield. He registered 6 goals and 9 assists as City won a fourth straight title and the club will be desperate to keep hold of him as there are already some clubs interested in him.

21. Anthony Gordon - Newcastle

Gordon was arguably Newcastle's most consistent player this season in what was a challenging season for the Magpies. He stepped up when the Magpies needed someone to and his good form was later rewarded with an England call up.

20. Destiny Udogie - Tottenham

Udogie had to wait to get his chance at Spurs and this season he took it with both hands. He was excellent in both departments by being defensively solid and always offering a threat going forward. His performances at both ends were key to Spurs returning to Europe.

19. Alexander Isak - Newcastle

Isak became a key player for Newcastle this season and especially during the latter stages of the season as his form was key to the Magpies ending the season strongly. He ended the season with 21 goals and is surely now a guaranteed starter for Eddie Howe's side.

18. Jarrod Bowen - West Ham

Bowen just had his best season to date as he scored 16 goals and stepped up as the Hammers' main man following the departure of Declan Rice. His good form was rewarded with a return to the England squad.

17. Emiliano Martinez - Aston Villa

Martinez for me has been the best keeper this season as he was a solid presence between the sticks all season as Villa finished in the top four. He pulled off many crucial and important saves when his team needed him to and kept 9 clean sheets.

16. Heung Min Son - Tottenham

Son was back to his best this season as he stepped up as Spurs' new talisman following the departure of former strike partner Harry Kane. He ended the season with 17 goals and all of them were crucial as Spurs sealed their return to Europe.

15. Mohamed Salah - Liverpool

He might've had a dip in form after returning from AFCON, but Salah still had another impressive season as he scored 18 league goals. He continues to show his importance to Liverpool with the goals he scores and it will be interesting to see if they can keep him this summer, as he'll be entering the final year of his contract.

14. Ricky Van De Ven - Tottenham

Van De Ven has been solid at the back all season for Spurs by making many crucial and important interventions. Spurs were a much better team defensively when he was available and without him, they might've conceded more goals.

13. Dominic Solanke - Bournemouth

Solanke finally proved himself as a Premier League striker this season by scoring 19 league goals as Bournemouth finished in the top 10. He was very unlucky not to have been called up for England given the form he's been in this season.

12. Gabriel - Arsenal

Gabriel is arguably one of the most underrated defenders in the Premier League as he hasn't always got the credit he deserves. He was solid at the back all season as Arsenal pushed City all the way and his partnership with Saliba was key to that.

11. Ben White - Arsenal

White was excellent in both departments all season as Arsenal went very close to winning the title. Defensively he was very solid whilst going forward he always offered a threat. If he can fix his relationship with England, it won't be long till he's back in the squad.

10. Martin Odegaard - Arsenal

Odegaard had another top season for Arsenal this season as they went very close to winning the title. His 10 assists and 8 goals were in the Gunners' title challenge as was his ability to run the show from midfield which he did once again this season.

9. Bukayo Saka - Arsenal

Saka continues to get better as a player every season and this season he had his best campaign for goals as he netted 16 times. His contributions and overall performances were key during Arsenal's title challenge and if he can have another top season next season, he could go onto another level.

8. Virgil Van Dijk - Liverpool

Van Dijk has been back to his brilliant best this season by being his calm and composed self. His presence in the Liverpool backline makes them a much better team defensively and his influence makes the players around him better.

7. Ollie Watkins - Aston Villa

Watkins has been an all round striker this season as he scored 19 goals and provided the most assists with 13. His game has gone onto another level since Unai Emery took over at Villa Park and his form this season earned him a recall to the England squad, where he's set to be Harry Kane's back up for the Euros.

6. Erling Haaland - Man City

He might not have had the season he had last season, but Haaland was still the same goal scoring machine he has been right throughout his career. He scored 27 goals as he won another golden boot and all of them were key in City winning a fourth straight title.

5. Rodri - Man City

City didn't lose a single game in which Rodri played in this season which shows how important he is for them. City control games better when he's in the team because of the ability he has in doing that and he also pops up with crucial goals when his team need one.

4. William Saliba - Arsenal

Arsenal had the best defence in the league this season and Saliba was one of the reasons why. He was solid at the back all season as the Gunners pushed City all the way by making many crucial interventions. In him, the Gunners finally have the top class centre back they've been crying for out for.

3. Cole Palmer - Chelsea

Palmer carried Chelsea for pretty much the entire campaign in what was an up and down season for the blues. He registered 22 goals and 11 assists as Chelsea finished in the European places and without him, the blues might've been in a relegation fight. His form was rewarded with a place in the England squad.

2. Declan Rice - Arsenal

Arsenal were a much better team this season than they were last season and Rice was the main reason why. He brought a stronger mentality to the team thanks to his leadership and he also made the Gunners a tougher side to play against due to his tenacity. He also contributed at the other end with some crucial goals as he showed that he is more than just a defensive midfielder.

1. Phil Foden - Man City

Foden has taken his game onto another level this season as he scored 19 goals and impressed in a more central role. He stepped up as City's main man whilst Kevin De Bruyne was out injured and he carried on being that player throughout the season as he ran the show on the pitch on a number of occasions.
