The 7 times Champions League winners find themselves top of Serie A and unbeaten after five games with four wins and a draw. So are they back to their best after seven underwhelming years.
Milan haven't won Serie A since the 2010-11 season and haven't played in the Champions League since the 2013-14 season. Since then they've had nine managers and they've all struggled to get them back into the Champions League with finishes of 6th, 5th, 7th and even 10th in Serie A. Their decline has been very surprising considering that they finished 3rd the season before their decline began and they're a massive club with 7 European Cups and 18 Serie A titles. They'll be hoping to get back to those heights soon if they can keep up their strong start.
They've had great players during their 121 year history such Paolo Maldini, Kaka, Clarence Seedorf, Andriy Shevchenko, George Weah, Filippo Inzaghi and Andrea Pirlo. They all played a key role in this sides they were part of and they are all club legends because of the players they were during their time at the San Siro.
The current Milan side has Zlatan Ibrahimovic still delivering at 39 years old in his second spell at the club and young players like keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Rafael Leao who are both key players at the age of 21. This looks good for the future because they're both showing promise at a young age with Donnarumma already Italy's number one after making his Milan debit aged 16 and Rafael Leao currently has more assists than any other player in Serie A this season and scored 6 times last season. Paolo Maldini's son Daniel made his first team debut last season at 18 years old and will hoping to have a great career at the club like his Dad did in the 90s.
If they can continue their great start and continue to play the way they have been under Stefano Pioli, they have a very good chance of being successful this season. Whether that's winning the Europa League or even winning Serie A ending Juventus' streak in the process. Signs are looking good for AC Milan because of the start they've had.
