Can Gabriel be the answer to Arsenal's defensive woes?
Arsenal's defence has been a problem for years but after Gabriel's impressive debut, have the Gunners finally found a centre half to build the team around. The Brazilian looked calm on the ball and made key tackles during his debut against Fulham as Arsenal kept a clean sheet. If Arteta can find the right partner for him in defence and if he can build the defence around the Brazilian, the Gunners could finally have a solid defence if Gabriel plays like did he at Fulham over the course of the season.
Can Everton signings take them to next level?
New Everton signings Allan and James Rodriguez both impressed as the Toffees beat Tottenham 1-0 on Sunday. Allan showed what Everton lacked last season in a defensive midfielder with Idrissa Gueye being a huge miss for them and Rodriguez showed what he's about in creating chances and controlling the game. They both had time to do what they wanted to and if they can produce this kind of performance throughout the season, it could help Everton qualify for Europe.
How long will Mourinho last at Spurs?
I was watching highlights of this game on Match of the Day 2 and could see why Gary Neville described Spurs' performance as lifeless and flat. Tottenham hardly put Everton under any pressure and almost gifted them a goal with Ben Davies' cross-field pass to Toby Alderweireld ending up at the feet of Richarlison who should've scored. This was a similar performance to the ones that Spurs produced at times last season and if they don't improve on this kind of performance throughout the season, I'm not sure whether Mourinho will be at Spurs come the end of the season.
Can Leeds become the new Wolves and Sheffield United?
Leeds showed what they were about during their impressive display against Liverpool despite losing 4-3. They wanted to get the ball forward whenever they had it because they runners off the ball which caused Liverpool's defence all kinds of problems during the match. Following the impressive debut campaigns of Wolves and Sheffield United in the last two season, could Leeds be the next newly promoted team to make a surprise push for Europe.
Is Callum Wilson the answer to Newcastle's striker curse?
After scoring on his Newcastle debut against West Ham, Callum Wilson showed what Newcastle lacked last season in a striker who can lead the line. Wilson caused West Ham problems with his runs in behind which Joelinton didn't do much of last season. The Magpies haven't really had a reliable striker who can score goals since Alan Shearer. Michael Owen kept getting injured and the likes of Papiss Cisse, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Joselu failed to convince. If Wilson can perform like he did against West Ham, Newcastle have finally found a reliabkle no.9.
