Should Arsenal have included Mesut Ozil in their Premier League squad?
Arsenal had a lot of the ball during their 1-0 defeat to Leicester on Sunday but couldn't penetrate the Leicester defence. One reason for this could be Mesut Ozil not being in their Premier League squad. I'm asking this because Arsenal didn't have anyone who can create and play a killer pass behind a low block on the pitch during their defeat to Leicester. Ozil was not selected in the Gunners' Premier League squad last week and hasn't featured for them since football restarted back in June. On his day we know he can be a talented player because of what he offers and Arsenal could've done with him on the pitch during their defeat to Leicester because they lacked that creative player in the middle of the park. He hasn't always delivered on a consistent basis for the Gunners since he arrived from Real Madrid back in 2013, but he is a player who can pick out a killer pass and create something like Man City have in Kevin De Bruyne. If Arsenal are to challenge this season, they need to sign a creative midfielder in January because it's clear that they need that kind of player.
Are Man City out of the title race?
City currently lie 13th in the Premier League and dropped points for the third time this season following their 1-1 draw at West Ham leaving them five points off the top. This has been the worst start to a season for Pep Guardiola and with them already five points behind the leaders Everton, could City be out of the title race already? They have been playing catch-up after finishing their season late due to their involvement in the latter stages of the Champions League which hasn't given the players enough time to rest and recover ahead of this season. But with the players they have and after losing out on the title to Liverpool last season, City were expected to start better and with a hunger to win the title back. They have had injuries to key players of their squad with Fernadinho out for a month and Sergio Aguero looking to face another spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury in the draw on Saturday. Gabriel Jesus is also out will be for another four or five weeks leaving City with no recognised striker available. They won't want Aguero and Jesus to be out for any longer because they could fall behind further and lose ground.
Is Patrick Bamford silencing the doubters?
Many people were doubting Patrick Bamford ahead of this season and he's gone on to score 6 goals in 6 games including a hat trick at Aston Villa on Friday night. Bamford missed a lot of big chances in the Championship last season which got people asking whether he could do it in the Premier League and he's started to prove that he can by the way he's started the season. He took his second and third goals really well in the 3-0 win at Aston Villa with his second one being a strike outside the box going into the top corner and his third being a nice tidy finish into the bottom corner whilst being surrounded by three defenders. His hat trick can give him a lot of confidence going into the rest of the campaign and if he can keep this up, he'll definitely silence the doubters.
How open is the Premier League title race at the moment?
In what has been a crazy Premier League season so far, it looks like anyone could win the league with the way the seasons started. The difference between 1st and 11th is just four points with Everton and Arsenal being in those positions respectively. Liverpool have the same amount of points as Everton whilst Aston Villa and Leicester are one point behind in 3rd and 4th with Tottenham two points behind in 5th. Leeds, Southampton, Crystal Palace and Wolves are all three points off the top in 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th with Chelsea and Arsenal both four points off in 10th and 11th. This shows how open the league is at the minute with the top sides being inconsistent and it looks like anyone can beat anyone with the way the league has started. I will of course change as the season drags on but at the moment, the title race appears to be very open.
Have Chelsea sorted out their defence?
Chelsea have kept clean sheets in their last two games with goalless draws against Sevilla and Man United. This has got me asking if they have finally sorted out what their best defence is. Thiago Silva impressed against Man United on Saturday with his positioning, reading of the game and what he offers on the ball by playing some long passes into the forward players. New keeper Edouard Mendy impressed in both games by making big saves which lead to him keeping a clean sheet in both. He looked assured and composed between sticks in both of those games and is showing to be a more reliable keeper than Kepa Arrizabalaga who hasn't convinced during his time at Stamford Bridge. If both Silva and Mendy continue to put in performances like they did at the weekend, Chelsea could finally have a settled backline to go with their exciting forward line.
