5 Questions after Matchweek 36

Could Ferran Torres replace Sergio Aguero?

Ferran Torres has had a fairly decent debut season at Man City this year by scoring 13 goals with 7 of them coming in the Premier League. He's done a decent job when he's played in the no.9 position this season and after scoring a hat trick in City's 4-3 win over Newcastle on Friday night: Could he replace Sergio Aguero as City's main striker?

He definitely played like a striker on Friday night by staying in the middle of the pitch for majority of the game and putting away chances you would expect him to put away. Pep Guardiola even said after the game that he might be a striker even though they signed him as a winger to replace Leroy Sane following his departure to Bayern Munich in the summer. He scored goals as a striker in the early stages of the Champions League this season which showed everyone that he can play that role having stepped in for Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus who were injured at the time. With the Spaniard still 21 years of age and showing potential to be a striker, he could well be City's first choice striker in the long term. Especially with Gabriel Jesus not always delivering.

Could the top four be decided this week?

Liverpool's 2-1 win over West Brom on Sunday put them right back in the mix for a place in the top four as they moved within a point of 4th placed Chelsea. With Chelsea and Leicester playing each other on Tuesday night: Could the top four be decided this week?

Liverpool play Burnley the day after Chelsea and Leicester play each other for the second time in four days which could see Liverpool climb into the top four. They'll definitely move in there if they win and Chelsea lose as they're one point behind them but they could also move in there if Chelsea win because Liverpool's goal difference is exactly the same as Leicester's with both sides on 21. Out of the three sides in contention for those Champions League spots Liverpool have the most winnable fixture on the last day of the season as they face Crystal Palace at home whilst Chelsea travel to Aston Villa and Leicester take on Spurs at the King Power. With that in mind the top four could well be decided this week. Especially if Liverpool beat Burnley on Wednesday.

Has Everton's season been a failure?

A lot was expected of Everton at the start of the season because of the calibre of players they brought in and the start to the season they had with four wins from their opening four games. With the Toffees 8th in the Premier League with European football for next season slipping away from them: Has their season been a failure?

The Toffees were expected to to finish in the European places or even the top six at the start of the season because of the manager they have in Carlo Ancelotti and the quality of players they signed in the summer in James Rodriguez and Allan. But that looks unlikely to happen due to inconsistent results they've had throughout the season along with their poor home form. They've won just 5 times at home all season with their last win on home soil coming at the beginning of March where they beat Southampton 1-0. If their home form was better than it has been they might be higher up table because of how good they've been on their travels. They have tough end to the season as they take on Wolves at home and champions Man City away. With the Toffees unlikely to win those game their season could well be a failure as they're currently outside the European places.

Could Dele Alli be back to his best next season?

Dele Alli has put in some decent displays since Ryan Mason has taken over at Spurs and he put in another one during Spurs' 2-0 win over Wolves on Sunday. With Alli set to end the season strongly after some recent promising performances: Could he be back to his best next season?

His strong end to this season will surely give him confidence going into next season because he'll want to build on his current form by starting next season in the same way he's ending this one. It will of course depend on who Spurs appoint as their manager next season as he will have his own way of playing and certain types of players he wants to bring in. But Alli's end of season form will surely put him in the new managers thoughts because of the way he's ending the season and the player he can be on his day. If he can continue to play the way he has been in Spurs' final two games of the season and have a good pre season under his belt, we could see the Dele Alli of three or four seasons ago.

Will the golden boot be shared?

The race for the Premier League golden boot looks set to go down to the last day of the season with Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah both tied on 22 goals each. With both players in decent form and likely to score at least once or twice between now and the end of the season: Will the golden boot award be shared at the end of he season?

The Premier League golden boot award has been shared four times in 1997/98, 1998/99, 2010/11 and 2018/19. The three of those seasons saw the award shared between three players with Dion Dublin, Chris Sutton and MIchael Owen sharing the award in 1998, Jimmy Flloyd Hasselbaink and Dwight Yorke sharing it with Owen in 1999 and Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang sharing the award in 2019. 2011 was the only season where it was shared between two players with Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez sharing the award. Kane and Salah look set to achieve the same as they're both joint top of the charts and have the ability to score more in the final two games of the season. If they both score in both games, the golden boot could well be shared. But it will depend on how many goals each of them score in the final two games.
