Could Eze replace Zaha as Crystal Palace's main man?
Eberechi Eze has enjoyed a good debut season at Crystal Palace this season and he put in another good display in his sides 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday where he had a role in both goals. He set up Christian Benteke for the first and scored the second through a deflected solo goal. His overall performance got me asking if he could replace Zaha as Palace's main man.
He may only have four goals and 5 assists to his name so far this season but Eze has still showed plenty of promise with his performances on the pitch. He's caused defenders many problems with his pace and he has made Palace a more dangerous team on the attack because of his pace and movement. He's eased the pressure off Zaha as Palace's main goal threat and with the Ivorian likely to leave in the summer Eze could well be the one to replace him because of the talent he possesses. If he can add more goals between now and the end of the season he could well be the Eagles' new talisman. Especially if Zaha leaves.
Did Pep make too many changes against Chelsea again?
Man City missed their chance to secure the title at the weekend as they lost 2-1 to Chelsea a couple of weeks after losing to them in the FA Cup. They made a lot of changes when the two sides met in the FA Cup and they were without quite a few key players in their Premier League clash from the start with Riyad Mahrez not even coming on after scoring twice in their win over PSG in the Champions League. This got me asking if Pep made too many changes against Chelsea again.
I was very surprised with Pep's team selection on Saturday because I thought he was going to play a strong team as they were playing Chelsea and a win would've secured them the title. With the matter of securing the title in mind I thought that he would've gone for it by playing a stronger team which would've given his side a better chance of winning the game. They might've been without Kevin De Bruyne through injury but City still could've fielded a stronger team by playing Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden from the start instead of bring them off the bench towards the end of the game.
Is Mason Greenwood pushing for a place in the England squad for the Euros?
Mason Greenwood has been in fine form for his club over the last month with 5 goals in his last five league games. He's set to end the season on a high note and with the form he's in he's on course to equal the amount he got last season in 10 league goals. His current form got me asking if he's pushing for a place in the England squad for the Euros next month.
His form has definitely put him in contention for that third strikers spot alongside Ollie Watkins and Patrick Bamford who have both had excellent seasons for their clubs. Watkins and Bamford may have more goals than him this season but Greenwood is more experienced at international level having represented England at youth level. This gives him an advantage over Watkins and Bamford because international experience is important when going to a major tournament as you'll know how to carry yourself and the pressures that come with it. He'll likely to be used as an option from the bench when England need a goal because his pace could tire out defenders towards the end of a game where they've had to be resolute throughout. If he can carry on scoring goals till the end of the season, he could well be part of that 26 man squad.
Is Sam Allardyce the best man to get West Brom back up?
West Brom's relegation was confirmed on Sunday following their 3-1 defeat at Arsenal with the relegation being Sam Allardyce's first as a manager in the Premier League. It was always going to happen because the quality of the squad was never good enough to stay in the Premier League in the first place due to the lack of experience and quality in the side. They have shown some signs some improvement over the last few games by being more solid and well drilled defensively. But it wasn't enough. With the way they've improved over the last few months, Could Big Sam be the best man to get them straight back up?
The god news for the Baggies if Allardyce was to stay is that he has experience of getting teams promoted to the Premier League from his days at Bolton and West Ham. He got Bolton promoted via the play offs in the 2000/01 season and he did exactly the same with West Ham in the 2011/12 season. Because of this the Baggies might be better off keeping him for next season as he knows how to get a team promoted out of the Championship. If West Brom can keep hold of the majority of their players next season, they will have a good chance of bouncing straight back up. Especially if Big Sam is still around.
Are Fulham becoming a yo yo club?
Fulham's relegation back to the Championship was confirmed last night as they were beaten 2-0 by Burnley after just a season in the Premier League. Having bounced straight back up last season before going straight back down this season: Are Fulham becoming a yo yo club?
The Premier League has had a couple of yo yo clubs since its inception with Crystal Palace and West Brom being the main examples. Both of those clubs have a history of getting promoted before getting relegated the following season with Palace doing it three times and West Brom doing it four times. Fulham could well find themselves in that category soon after getting relegated and promoted twice in the last four seasons. Scott Parker will not want that to be the case as his side will be looking to bounce straight back up at the first attempt next season. This is because Parker will want to stabilise Fulham as a Premier League club if he gets them out of the Championship at the first attempt next season. He'll need to bring in the right players for the club for them to achieve that because that will hopefully lead to automatic promotion.
