5 Questions after Matchweek 34

Was the sending off of Yannick Vestergaard the right decision?

Southampton defender Yannick Vestergaard was sent off inside the opening 10 minutes of his sides 1-1 draw with Leicester on Friday night when he apparently fouled Jamie Vardy on the edge of his own penalty area. With the penalty being given for the follow through after winning the ball; Was the sending off of Vestergaard the right decision.

I can see why the sending off was given because Vestergaard was the last man between the line of defence and the keeper plus he was also denying a goal scoring opportunity for Vardy himself. But at the same time I don't know why the card was rewarded because Vestergaard won the ball cleanly before bringing down the man with the follow through. The referee didn't even look at the pitch side monitor to review the decision after showing the red card because the officials at Stockley Park told him not to as they appeared to trust his decision. If the referee was told to look at the screen by the VAR officials the decision might've been different depending on what view they had on it.

Should Man City have offered Sergio Aguero a new contract?

Sergio Aguero is set to leave Man City at the end of the season on a free with his contract up in the summer. But after putting in a sharp and lively display in City's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday; Should City have offered him a new contract?

City have coped fairly well without the Argentine this season as they're 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League and on course to win the title. But Aguero's performance against Palace at the weekend showed everyone that he still has a bit more to offer as he looked fit, sharp and lively throughout City's win over Crystal Palace where he scored the opening goal with a clinical strike past Vicente Guaita. He's had a tough season this year due to the amount of injury problems he's had which have had a huge affect on his fitness throughout the season. But when he's fit and firing, he's one of the best finishers around which he proved at the weekend against Palace. If he can play like he did against Palace between now and the end of the season, City may regret not offering him a new contract.

Are Fulham's hope of staying up over for good?

Fulham's hopes of staying in the Premier League took another blow as they were beaten 2-0 by South London rivals Chelsea. With four games left to play and the club nine points from safety; Are their hopes of staying up over for good?

The Cottagers are winless in their last five games and during that time the teams outside the relegation zone have pulled themselves away from danger. That has made their chances of staying up a lot more difficult because they've dropped a lot of points whilst the teams above them have gained points which have moved them closer towards the trap door. The Cottagers have some tough games coming up in Burnley, Southampton, Man United and Newcastle where they need to win at least two of them to give themselves a fighting chance. For that to happen they need the teams above them to drop points so they can blow the relegation battle wide open and potentially take it to the last game of the season. If they don't win any of their remaining games or if the teams above them continue to pick up points, their chances of survival will pretty much be over.

Will Ollie Watkins be in the England squad for the Euros?

Ollie Watkins netted his 13th league goal of the season during Aston Villa's 2-1 win at Everton where he put in a very good display on the day. Having earned his first England call up a couple of months ago alongside the season he is having; Will he be in the England squad for the Euros?

Watkins has had a fine first season in the Premier League where has scored more goals than the likes of Danny Ings and Tammy Abraham who were higher in the England pecking order than him earlier in the season. But now the former Brentford striker appears to be ahead of both of them as he is the joint fourth highest English goal scorer behind Harry Kane, Dominic Calvert Lewin and Patrick Bamford. With Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert Lewin likely to be England's main two strikers at the Euros this summer, Watkins could well be the third because he netted on his international debut against San Marino back in March where he was called up ahead of Patrick Bamford. If he can score a few more goals between now and the end of the season, he could be the third striker England take to the tournament.

Will Spurs re-sign Gareth Bale on a permanent transfer?

Gareth Bale has had a mixed season back at Spurs as he's had moments where he's been criticized and moments where he's looked like the Bale of old. After scoring a hat trick in Spurs' 4-0 win over Sheffield United on Sunday; Will Spurs' re-sign him on a permanent transfer once his loan spell ends?

Bale's performance against Sheffield United definitely looked like the Gareth Bale of old as he made runs off the ball and scored some very good goals with his second being the best as it flew into the top corner. He 's netted 14 goals in all competitions for Spurs this season with 9 of them coming in the Premier League which isn't a bad return for a player who hasn't played a lot of football over the last season or two. With four goals in his last two games against Southampton and Sheffield United, Bale looks set to end the season in good form because of the confidence he's in. Especially after scoring a hat trick at the weekend. If he can stay in the form he's in between now and the end of the season Spurs could well snap him up on a permanent deal.
