Is it time for Arsenal to sell Granit Xhaka?
Granit Xhaka was at fault for Burnley's equaliser in the Gunners' 1-1 draw with them on Saturday as he played the ball into the path of Chris Wood who put the ball in the net. He's made more errors than leading to a goal than any other outfield player since the start of the 2016-17 season with 8 including his error at Turf Moor at the weekend. So is it time for Arsenal to sell Granit Xhaka after another costly error? The Swiss midfielder has had plenty of criticism since he's been at Arsenal and rightly so because of the errors he's made and the lack of good performances from the player himself. He's let Arsenal down so many times throughout his time at the club including the time where he swore at the fans as they booed him off against Crystal Palace last season. Some Arsenal fans are probably surprised that he's still at the club because a lot of them thought that he would be one of the first players out the door when Mikel Arteta arrived and when Arsene Wenger left. He did have a good spell at the end of last season, but he still has a rash mistake in him like fouling someone when he didn't need to. Because of the mistakes and rash moments he produced, Arsenal may need to sell him if they're to return to where they want to be.
Is Jurgen Klopp facing the sack at Liverpool?
Liverpool lost their sixth successive game at home on Sunday as they were beaten 1-0 by Fulham. This result moved them down to 8th in the league and seven points outside the Champions League places leaving their place in next seasons Champions League in doubt. Having been top of the table at Christmas; Is Jurgen Klopp facing the sack? Liverpool's title defence has been without a doubt one of the worst in Premier League history because of their form since the turn of the year. When champions of the past have had a poor title defence, they've often sacked the manager. Man City sacked Roberto Mancini after finishing 11 points behind Man United in 2012/13, Chelsea sacked Jose Mourinho by Christmas in 2015/16 with the blues closer to the relegation zone, Leicester sacked Claudio Ranieri with the Foxes in a relegation battle in 2016/17 and Chelsea sacked Antonio Conte having not finished in the top four in 2017/18. I can see that very much happening with Jurgen Klopp because Liverpool look low on confidence and have problems everywhere on the pitch. If results don't improve, Klopp could well be facing the chop at the end of the season.
Will the relegation battle go to the final day of the season?
This time last month the relegation battle looked all but done with the teams in the bottom three a long way off safety. But with Fulham's resurgence and Brighton and Newcastle dropping points the battle at the bottom looks very tight. This got me asking if the relegation battle will go to the last day of the season. Fulham's win over Liverpool on Sunday put them level on points with 17th placed Brighton who are outside the bottom three only on goal difference with Newcastle just one point clear of both of them in 16th. Fulham were the team who were pretty much gone a month ago because they weren't turning draws into wins. But 11 points from their last 7 games has seen them give themselves a very good chance of staying up whilst both Brighton and Newcastle have dropped points during that time. Especially in their last four or five games. Those three teams look like the ones who will be fighting it out because Burnley in 15th should be safe because of their manager and the bottom two in Sheffield United and West Brom look good as gone. With Brighton and Newcastle still to play each other and Newcastle travelling to Fulham on the final day of the season, it could well go down to the last day.
Are Spurs back in the hunt for a top four finish?
Spurs looked completely out of the picture for a top four finish a few weeks ago as they were not in great form and not playing well on the pitch. But after three wins in a row and the club 5 points off the Champions League places; Are Spurs back in the hunt for a top four finish? Spurs' recent wins over Burnley, Fulham and Crystal Palace were arguably the best we've seen of them all season because they started those games on the front foot and pushed for more goals which we were not seeing a few weeks ago. Gareth Bale's return to the team has played a huge part in that because he's been scoring goals and creating chances which is what he does when he's at his brilliant best. With Harry Kane, Heung Min Son and Lucas Moura in their attack alongside Bale, Spurs are finally clicking in the third because they can all score goals and create chances for each other which we have seen in their last three games. If they can carry on like this, they could find themselves well in the mix because of the attacking quality they have.
Is Kai Havertz finally delivering for Chelsea?
Kai Havertz has struggled to produce his best form since arriving at Chelsea for £71 million from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. But after a good performance in the blues' 2-0 win over Everton last night; Is Kai Havertz finally delivering for Chelsea? Havertz was handed his first start since Thomas Tuchel's first game in charge against Wolves in last nights game and he took the opportunity given to him. He had a role in both of the goals with his shot deflecting off Ben Godfrey for the first and winning the penalty which Jorginho scored for the second. He was playing in a more advanced position than he was earlier in the season and he benefitted from that as it enabled him to make runs into the box and be more involved in the attacking side of the game. It was a good performance overall from the German and one that his manager was pleased with. If he can play more like that on a consistent basis between now and the end of the season, we could see Havertz finally delivering in a Chelsea shirt.
