5 Questions after Matchweek 26

Did Lee Mason cost Brighton the points against West Brom?

One of the weekends main talking points was without a doubt Lewis Dunk's disallowed free kick for Brighton against West Brom. The goal was ruled out when the ball hit the back of the net, then it was give and in the end referee Lee Mason ruled it out. This got me asking if Lee Mason cost Brighton the points against West Brom. The Seagulls may have missed two penalties during the game with both hitting the woodwork, but they'll feel that they could've got something if their goal was given. The decision to disallow their goal was poorly handled. Lewis Dunk took the free kick once the whistle was blown for it to be taken and then Lee Mason blew the whistle again because West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone wasn't ready. The ball was in the net at the time the second whistle was blown and after disallowing the goal by blowing the second whistle, Mason then awarded the goal before ruling it out again after going over to the VAR screen at the side of the pitch. The decision wasn't properly officiated and it could send Brighton down if it was to pan out like that.

Could West Brom pull off the great escape like they did in 2005?

West Brom have put in some improved performances over the last few weeks with draws against Man United and Burnley along with a win over Brighton on Saturday. They've kept clean sheets in their last two games and are looking more organised and solid as a team defensively. Could they pull off the great escape like they did in 2005? The Baggies weren't given a chance a month ago because of the squad they had and the amount of goals they were conceding despite having a proven manager in Sam Allardyce. But after adding some reinforcements in January and an improvement in performances and results, the Baggies have given themselves a possible chance of getting out of trouble. Sam Allardyce was struggling to get a tune out of his players when he first arrived back in December which put his record of never been relegated from the Premier League on the line. But it now appears that he's finally getting something out of them and they're getting results from that. If they continue this until the end of the season, they could pull off the great escape like they did in the 2004/05 season.

Will Leicester struggle without James Maddison and Harvey Barnes?

James Maddison was a big miss for Leicester in their 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday because they didn't have a creative player on the pitch and they suffered from that. They lost another influential player in that game in Harvey Barnes who went off on a stretcher after landing awkwardly on his left foot. With those two out of the side for the nest few games; How much will Leicester miss miss the pair of them? Maddison and Barnes have both had outstanding seasons and were both in good form prior to their injuries. They've both become important players for the Foxes this season by adding more goals to their game which has helped them improve as the season has progressed. With Maddison being a big miss against Arsenal on Sunday, Barnes could also be a huge miss because of his pace and runs in behind which have enabled him to score more goals and the foxes have no one else like that in there team. They still have Jamie Vardy but without Maddison and Barnes, they may struggle to stay in the top four.

Is Gareth Bale finally producing his best form for Spurs?

Gareth Bale was struggling to find his feet back at Spurs about a month ago which lead to the media questioning his determination. But after scoring twice twice against Burnley on Sunday days after scoring against Wolfsberger in the Europa League; Is Gareth Bale finally producing his best form for Spurs? The Welshman wasn't getting many opportunities earlier in the season which could be down to injuries, a lack of fitness or a lack of effort in training and on the pitch. A lack of effort was certainly the case among most people because many of us thought that he doesn't care about football and that he was past his best. Well he's definitely put those comments behind him since then because he's shown everyone that he's still got the blistering pace he used to have and that he's still a threat going forward. He's scored four goals in his last four games in all competitions and if he can carry on like that, we'll could see Gareth Bale back to his best as long as he stays fit.

Can Curtis Jones push for a regular starting role in the Liverpool team?

20 year old Curtis Jones has made 19 appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League this season with 11 of appearances beings starts. He's impressed whenever he's been on the pitch including their win over Sheffield United on Sunday where he scored the first goal and was awarded man of the match. With the performances he puts in whenever he's given an opportunity; Can he push for a regular starting place in the Liverpool team? Jones has been one of Liverpool's best players this season and is showing what a talent he is by picking out passes from midfield and making runs into the box. He also has the ability to score goals in which he has four of in all competitions this season. He'll get more a season as he gets older because he's a player who wants to score goals and he'll improve with age like most young players do. He's been a prospect for at least two or three seasons and if he can continue to impress every time he plays, it won't be long until he's one of the first names on the team sheet because he's definitely got the potential.
