Is the title race over?
Man City went five points clear at the top of the Premier League on Sunday with their 4-1 win at Liverpool and have won their last 10 games. With the run their currently on, Man United dropping points and Liverpool seemingly out of it; Is the title race over? At Christmas Liverpool were looking like the team to beat as they were top by a clear distance and everyone thought that they would go on and win it. Their form since then has been poor and they now look out of it having won just twice since Christmas and recently lost three successive home games which is very unlike them having gone 68 games unbeaten at home before their slump. Man United went to the top early to mid January and were looking like title contenders until a defeat to Sheffield United and draws with Arsenal and Everton saw them fall of the pace. City have made the most of their slip ups by going on a 10 games winning streak which has seen them move to the top of the Premier League because of Liverpool and United dropping points. As City have a game in hand along with the amount of games they're currently winning, the title could well be wrapped up before the end of the season. Especially if United continue to drop important points and Liverpool don't sort their form out.
Will a place in the Champions League be the only thing to play for at the end of the season?
With the title race almost wrapped up and the relegation battle pretty much done and dusted, the only thing to be decided looks set to be a place in the Champions League for next season. No one appears to be catching City at the top and Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United look to be the teams who are heading down to the Championship with the teams above them having a cushion between them and the bottom three. The race for the top four looks to be the closest with 4th to 7th being separated by just three points and with the teams under 7th not too far behind; Could a place in the Champions League be the only thing to play for at the end of the season? Liverpool in 4th have 40 points, Chelsea and West Ham in 5th and 6th both have 39 points and Everton in 7th and 37 points with Spurs on 36 in 8th. This makes the race for a Champions League close because not many points separate them all and they could all be fighting it out for that final spot on the final day of the season. If it remains this close until May, a Champions League spot could be the only thing to be decided at the end of the season unless City drop points in the title race and the teams in the bottom three pick up points at the same time as the teams above them drop points.
Is Phil Foden now a regular starter in the Man City team?
For months many people have been begging for Phil Foden to get a run of games in a Man City shirt because of how talented he is. Now he's getting a run of games and playing well; Is he now a regular starter for City? Foden has become one of the first names of Pep Guardiola's team sheet in recent weeks and he's showing why by scoring goals, playing people in and moving forward with the ball along with beating players in one on one situations. He's done all of that in every game he's played and is getting his reward from his manager by starting games on a consistent basis which he thoroughly deserves. His performance against Liverpool on Sunday showed us how good he is because he scored a brilliant goal and overall made a huge statement as it was against a team like Liverpool. After impressing in every game's playing in and after putting in an excellent performance against a team like Liverpool, he'll be a regular week in week out if he plays continues to play like he does. Especially against the other big teams.
Will Patrick Bamford get an England call up?
Patrick Bamford has scored 12 goals in the Premier League this season which is a good return for a striker playing for a newly promoted team in Leeds. He's the third highest English goal scorer in the league this season behind Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert Lewin. So will Patrick Bamford get an England call up due to the season he is having? Bamford has proven his doubters wrong this season by scoring the amount of goals he's already scored and with that he is putting himself in contention for a potential call up. He's scored more than two of England's current strikers in Danny Ings and Tammy Abraham who have 7 and 6 respectively which is another case for him to move above the pair in the pecking order of current English strikers. Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert Lewin are currently ahead of him in the pecking order and probably the favourites to be in the squad for the Euro's in the summer because they're already in the squad and are both having good seasons like Bamford. If Bamford can continue scoring goals over the next month, he may get the call from Gareth Southgate.
How many attacking players will England take to the Euros?
England have several of attacking options at their disposal going into the Euros and as there is so many to choose from; How many attacking players will Gareth Southgate take to the Euros itself? The list of attacking players England have is endless: Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, James Maddison, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka. The annoying thing is that Southgate can't take all of them to the Euros because he can only pick 23 players for his squad including at least three goalkeepers, four full backs (two right and two left), four centre backs, six midfielders and six forwards including the wingers. Gareth Southgate will have a big decision to make when he announces his squad for the tournament in the summer because he has a lot of options in attacking areas and it will be difficult for him to leave one or two of them out of his final squad. Especially if they all carry on playing like they have done all season because if they all continue what they're doing between now and the end of the season, Southgate will have a dilemma in terms of who to pick for his final squad. It's good problem for England to have going into the Euros and in the end, it will be up to Southgate to choose how many attacking players he decides to take with him.
