Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked by Man United at the weekend with the club out of the title race and outside the top four as a result of their recent poor form. The question surrounding their next manager has been the main talking point for the last few days and below I have listed four managers who could replace Solskjaer and whether they would be the right fit for the club.
Mauricio Pochettino
Pochettino is their number no.1 target and he would definitely be a good fit for them because he plays an attacking brand of football and gives opportunities to and develops young players. He did that with the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli when he was at Spurs and could do the same with someone like Mason Greenwood if he was to get the job. He improved Spurs year by year and that is the kind of manager that United need.
Erik Ten Haag
The Ajax manager is fairly similar to Pochettino in that he both plays attacking football and gives opportunities to young players. He gave opportunities to the likes of Mathias De Ligt, Frenkie De Jong and Donny Van De Beek in his early days at Ajax and they all played a key role in their journey to the Champions League semi finals in 2019. For me he's probably the best fit because he's won trophies and United would like a manager who has that trophy winning experience.
Zinedine Zidane
Zidane has been linked with the job in the past but hasn't been too interested in it. He has won a fair few trophies in his managerial career but I'm not sure he would be the right fit for United. His second spell at Real Madrid wasn't as good as the first plus I'm not sure that he would play the attacking style of play that United are known for.
Brendan Rodgers
Rodgers is another manager who would fit the clubs philosophy in that he plays playing attacking football and gives opportunities to young players. But given that Leicester aren't having the best of seasons and the fact that he used to manage Liverpool, I wouldn't be surprised if United didn't go in for him.
