What each Premier League club needs this summer

The Euros are now over which means that it won't be long till the new season kicks off. With the transfer window open and the season itself kicking off next month: What does each Premier League club need ahead of the new season.

ARSENAL - Central Midfielder

The central midfield area is one Arsenal have had a problem with for a number of years now and it is the only area where they need to seriously strengthen. They do have Thomas Partey there if he can stay fit but the Gunners need a more solid player to play alongside him with Granit Xhaka potentially on his way out of the club.

ASTON VILLA - Centre Back

Villa need more depth at the centre back area with Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Kortney Hause the only players in that position. Villa are a solid team defensively, but a back up player in that position could be useful if one of their current three gets injured.

BRENTFORD - Right Back

The Bees' first choice Right Back in Henrik Dalsgaard left earlier in the summer which means that they'll need to buy a replacement and a proven one as they're now in the Premier League. They have enough in the other areas but if the Bees are to stay up they need a solid defence and a right back is an important part of that.

BRIGHTON - Striker

The Seagulls played some great football at times last season but didn't have someone who could put the ball in the net on a regular basis with top scorer Neal Maupay scoring just 8 times all season. If they're to avoid being sucked into another relegation battle this season, they need to buy a striker who can put the ball in the net on a regular basis.

BURNLEY - Winger

The Clarets are short on options in the wide areas with Dwight McNeil and Johann Berg Gudmundsson being their only players in that area. They'll need one or two players in that position as back if either McNeil or Gudmundsson get injured.

CHELSEA - Striker

The Blues haven't had a top quality striker since Diego Costa left and it's the only area they need to address going into the new season. Kai Havertz may have impressed in that position at the end of last season, but if Chelsea are to challenge City for the title this season they need someone more proven and clinical to lead their attack.

CRYSTAL PALACE - Left Back

Patrick Van Aanholt's departure has left young Tyrick Mitchell as the Eagles' only left back in their squad which means that new boss Patrick Vieira will need to add another player in that area to boost his options. Vieira will want to give Mitchell opportunities as he is looking to bring through the younger players but at the same time will want to bring in someone more experienced to play in that position.

EVERTON - Right Back

With Seamus Coleman getting on and no other recognised right backs in the squad, the Toffees will need to bring in someone in this position for the long term and as a back up for the Irishman. Ben Godfrey can play at right back and do a job there, but he's better suited at centre back.

LEEDS - Left Back

Marcelo Bielsa's side have no recognised Left Backs at the club following the departure of Ezgjan Alioski on a free transfer which means that they need someone in that position. Stuart Dallas can play there among the variety of position he can play but Leeds need someone to play there on a regular basis.

LEICESTER - Centre Back

The Foxes need more depth at centre back as they only have three in Caglar Souncu, Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana. With the club in the Europa League again, they need an extra player in that position to bolster the depth of their squad and to provide back up if one of the current three gets injured.

LIVERPOOL - Striker

Roberto Firmino didn't have his best season in front of goal last season with just 9 goals scored all season. Because of this I think the reds need a more clinical no.9 to lead their attack alongside Mane and Salah as they look to get the title back off Man City. Firmino does a lot of great work off the ball, but his recent goal returns haven't been up to his usual standards.

MAN CITY - Striker

City need to buy a replacement for Sergio Aguero following the Argentine's departure at the end of last season after 10 seasons at the club. They did cope well without a recognised striker for the majority of their title winning campaign last season, but they'll still need one if they're to successfully defend their title.

MAN UNITED - Defensive Midfielder

With Jadon Sancho signed and the deal to get Raphael Varane almost complete, United only need a central midfielder to make themselves title contenders. The reason being is that they need someone to play alongside Paul Pogba on a regular basis so they can get the best out of the Frenchman instead of chancing his midfield partner every week. Nemanja Matic is getting on whilst Scott McTominay and Fred are good back up players. A regular midfield partner for Pogba could help the Frenchman excel in a United shirt.

NEWCASTLE - Attacking midfielder

The Magpies were frustrating to watch at times last season and need more attacking minded players to help out Callum Wilson and Allan Saint Maximin. Those two were heavily relied upon at times last season and an extra attacking player in there would add an extra threat to their attack along with easing the reliance on them to create and score goals.

NORWICH - Attacking Midfielder

The departure of Emiliano Buendia to Aston Villa has left a big whole in the Canaries' attack leaving striker Teemu Pukki as their only serious goal threat. They relied a lot on Pukki during their last spell in the Premier League two seasons ago and a replacement for Buendia would help the Finnish hitman out massively.

SOUTHAMPTON - Centre Back

Only West Brom conceded more goals than the Saints last season which shows that the defence is an area they need to sort out. Their defence has been a problem for them since Virgil Van Dijk left three years ago and if they're to avoid another second half collapse like last season, they need to improve at the back.

TOTTENHAM - Striker

There are two reasons why Spurs will need a striker. Firstly as a replacement for Harry Kane if he leaves the club and secondly as a back up for Kane if he stays. It's more likely to be the first reason with the player's future being one of the main talking points of the summer so far and also the player himself wanting to leave.

WATFORD - Central Midfielder

The Hornets need a powerful and physical player in the midfield like they had in Abdoulaye Doucoure and Etienne Capoue during their last spell in the Premier League. They're reasonably strong in the other areas but for them to stay up they need a powerful central midfielder who can show both sides of the game.

WEST HAM - Striker

Michail Antonio is the only recognised striker at the club leaving the Hammers very short of options in that department. With David Moyes' side taking part in the Europa League this season, they'll definitely need to buy one as they'll need a big squad to juggle both competition.

WOLVES - Right Back/Wing Back

Wolves conceded a lot of goals from crosses and set pieces last season with the right hand side being the main issue. Nelson Samedo was poor throughout the season as they missed Matt Doherty following his departure to Spurs last summer. This is the main area new boss Bruno Lage will need to address.
