Talking Points of the Weekend

Will Watford fans turn on the Pozzo's following relegation?

Watford's relegation was confirmed at the weekend following their defeat to Crystal Palace which sealed their fate. One of the reasons for their relegation has to be their changing of managers of which they had three of this season. The changes clearly didn't work and now that they've been relegated, I wonder if the fans will start turning on the Pozzo's.

They've had 16 managers since the Pozzo family brought the club back in 2012 and not all of them have worked out. Some have done ok but in my opinion were sacked too soon whilst the majority of them turned out to be the wrong choice. That has certainly been the case this season as Xisco Munoz was sacked after just 7 games and his replacement Claudio Ranieri turned out to be the wrong choice.

The Hornets weren't even in the relegation zone when they sacked Xisco which made that decision even more questionable whilst poor results under Ranieri backed up the point that he was the wrong choice. The appointment of Roy Hodgson was seen as a sensible move at the time because of his track record of never being relegated. But he wasn't able to get the best out of the team he took over.

The chopping and changing of managers has lead to the club becoming unstable and it has also unsettled the team. With the Hornets now relegated and the chopping and changing of managers playing a part in that, it would not surprise me if the fans do turn on the owners.

Advantage City in the title race

Liverpool dropped points by drawing with Spurs and City later took advantage of that by beating Newcastle to go three points clear at the top. You to say now that it is advantage Man City in the Premier League title race.

The leaders were also dealt a major blow with Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias and John Stones all set to be out for the rest of the season. That will give Liverpool some hope as those three are all crucial players in the Man City backline and without them they may struggle. But City should still go and win the league without them as they have players more than capable of stepping up in their absence plus they have a lot of quality players in the midfield and forward areas.

The three point lead they have certainly puts them in pole position as they now have a higher goal difference as a result of their 5-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday. Their goal difference will give them more of an advantage alongside the three point lead they have because they could both play a big part in which way the title goes.

Could Eddie Nketiah be Arsenal's first choice striker next season?

Eddie Nketiah is having a strong end to the season with Arsenal and he kept it up with a double in their win over Leeds on Sunday. With the form he's in alongside his recent performances; Could he be Arsenal's main no.9 next season?

His contract may be up in the summer but there is still a chance that he could sign a new deal. He's getting a run of games in the team and is making the most of those opportunities by putting in some good performances. He's lead the line well for Arsenal in the games he's played for them this season by being a focal point in their attack and putting pressure on the defenders. The Gunners have lacked this kind of player for much of the season and if Nketiah carries on playing the way he is, he could well sign that new contract and be Arsenal's first choice striker for next season. Especially with Alexandre Lacazette out of contract.
