Talking Points of the Weekend

Does Bruno Fernandes play better without Ronaldo?

Bruno Fernandes was back to his best in Man United's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday as he scored twice and put in an all round good performance. He hasn't been the same player this season because of Ronaldo being the main man and as Ronaldo didn't play in the game on Saturday; Does Bruno play better without his Portuguese counterpart?

Bruno carried United for the majority of last season as he registered a lot of goals and assists which made him their go to player. But he hasn't been able to register the numbers he achieved last season because Ronaldo has been United's main man. His performances have dipped as a result of that because he hasn't made as much of an impact as he did when he arrived two seasons ago.

He played like he was the main man against Villa on Saturday and Ronaldo not being there definitely played a part because we saw Bruno Fernandes at his best. He enjoys the responsibility as the main man as it gets the best out of him which last seasons performances can back up as well as his performance against Villa.

Rafa got what was coming

Rafa Benitez was sacked by Everton on Sunday following their 2-1 defeat to Norwich which left the club in 16th and six points above the relegation zone.

It's fair to say that he got what was coming because of the form his side were in and the pressure he was under the moment he got the job. The fans never wanted him as he is a former Liverpool manager which is why he was under pressure the moment he got the job. He needed to win the fans over early on which I felt he did with four wins from his first 7 games in charge. But results since then have been poor as they've won just once in 12 games which is not good enough for a club like Everton.

They have had injuries to key players with Dominic Calvert Lewin being the bigger miss but they still could've played better with the players they had available to them. Performances have been poor with their style of play potentially playing a part in that and with that along with the other factors mentioned, Benitez definitely got what was coming to him.
