Is the title race already over?
We were in for the potentially most exciting title race in Premier League history this time last month with the top three all looking very strong. But with City pulling away from the rest and both Liverpool and Chelsea dropping points in recent weeks, the most exciting title race has suddenly turned into a one horse race. So is the title race over?
City are 10 points clear at the top following the weekends results and are the in-form team having won their last 11 league games. Knowing that they have the ability to carry on winning games and go on a long unbeaten run, you might as well hand them the trophy now. They've done this whenever they've won the league under Pep and with the squad they have they'll probably go on and do it again.
Chelsea were arguably the favourites going into December because of how strong they are in all areas. But inconsistent form and injuries to key players has seen them fall out of contention. Their draw with Liverpool on Sunday was a big opportunity missed as a win might've kept their hopes alive. With Man City in their next league game, getting back in the race will be tough.
Liverpool were looking like the most likely challengers to City a few weeks ago because of the form they were in at the time. But their recent results have seen them drift away. They missed a big opportunity to keep their hopes alive on Sunday with their draw at Chelsea and especially as they were 2-0 up. With Salah and Mane off to AFCON, getting themselves back in the race will be very difficult.
Burnley are in trouble
For the first time in their six season stay, Burnley's Premier League status is under threat. They're 18th in the table and have won just once all season which has never happened to them at this stage of a season since they've been in the Premier League. They may still have Sean Dyche in charge, but staying in the league this season will be very tough.
They've dropped a lot of points from winning positions this season and haven't been as solid as they usually are. They're making mistakes they don't usually make and they're costing them points with their defeat at Leeds being an example of that. They tried to play out from the back at times against Leeds on Sunday where they did not look comfortable as they got punished from almost every mistake they made. They usually hoof the ball away instead of try something clever with the ball and they need to get back to doing that if they're to stay up. If not, their season won't get any better.
