Talking Points of the Weekend

Bernardo Silva becoming main man at City this season

Bernardo Silva appeared to be on his way out of the Etihad during the summer as he was strongly linked with a move away. A few months later he's one of the first names on the team sheet and rightly so because of the performances he's been putting in. He's been excellent all season and his recent performances have made him City's go to man during Kevin De Bruyne's absence.

Silva has stepped up in De Bruyne's absence three seasons ago when the Belgian spent most of that season on the side lines and is doing the same this season by being City's go to man in the midfield. He's their top goal scorer in the league with 7 which backs up the point of him being City's main man plus he's also worked his socks off the midfield due to the energy he has. These have made him the first name on the City team sheet and if he carries on doing what he's doing, he could be up there for Player of the Season.

Have Leicester's set piece problems been a factor in their inconsistent season?

Leicester have without a doubt had a stuttering season so far with one of the main reasons for it being down to injuries to key players. Another main reason for it could be their failure to defend set pieces. They've conceded more goals than any other team from set plays this season and haven't been as tight at the back as they have been over the last few seasons. So have have their set piece problems been a factor in their stuttering season?

The Foxes have let in 27 goals so far this season with 10 of them being from set pieces. Their set piece issues continued in their defeat to Aston Villa with both of goals they conceded being from set plays. Emiliano Buendia was left in plenty of space to head the ball into the path of Ezri Konsa who poked home the equaliser for the first goal and no one was at the near post to stop Konsa heading in the second. They clearly have problems when it comes to defending set pieces with their defeat at Villa being an example of that and if they don't fix it, their season could carry on the way it currently is.
