Premier League Predictions: Matchweek 37

SUNDAY:

TOTTENHAM V BURNLEY

Spurs gave their top four hopes a big boost with their win over Arsenal during the week where they were excellent from start to finish. They were brilliant in all departments and they'll be feeling very confident of finishing in that top four as a result of that win.

The only advantage that Spurs have over Arsenal in the top four race is that they have a more favourable run. Arsenal are still in control but with Spurs having a more favourable run in, they might take that all important 4th spot.

Burnley looked like they were going to pull themselves away from danger until their 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa which put them right back in trouble. With both James Tarkowski and Ben Mee out injured potentially for the rest of the season, I really do fear for Burnley.

PREDICTION: 2-0

I fancy Spurs to win this one because I think they'll have enough quality to win the game. They may not have had long to recover from their win over Arsenal on Thursday, but they should still have enough to win this one with the quality they have.

ASTON VILLA V CRYSTAL PALACE

Aston Villa put in a good shift against Liverpool in midweek as they gave them a good game. They'll be disappointed that they didn't get anything but their performance was encouraging and it will give them confidence going into this game.

Getting Coutinho signed up on a permanent deal will be a big boost for them going into next season because of the impact he's had on the team since he's been at the club. He's someone who they can build the team around next season as they look to push themselves up the league.

Crystal Palace were dominant in their win over Watford last weekend and they should've had more with the amount of chances they had. They've been good to watch this season but they haven't got a clinical no.9 which their win over Watford showed.

They have some good centre forwards but none of them have scored enough goals and Vieira will be looking to get one in the summer.

PREDICTION: 2-2

Both sides have some very good attacking players which should make this a good game. But Villa are inconsistent at home and Palace are not as strong away. There will be goals but I don't think there will be a winner.

LEEDS V BRIGHTON

Leeds at the moment are looking like the side who are going down out of all the sides who are still fighting to stay up. They're missing key players through both injury and suspension and because of that I'm not sure they're going to get anything from their remaining fixtures.

Discipline has been a big problem for them this season and particularly in recent games. They lost Luke Ayling and Dan James to red cards against Arsenal and Chelsea respectively and they can't afford to lose anyone else to a suspension.

Brighton have been pretty good away from home this season and particularly in recent games having won three of their last four on the road. Their away form has been crucial for them this season and they'll be looking to carry it on with a win in their final away game.

They were excellent against Man United last weekend and their performance will give them a lot of confidence going into this game. United were terrible but the Seagulls still had to turn up which they did and in style.

PREDICTION: 0-3

I'm backing Brighton to win this one because they're strong away from home and Leeds are without several key players. If they play like they did against Man United last weekend, they should win this one reasonably comfortably.

WATFORD V LEICESTER

Watford put in an improved performance against Everton in midweek which is what Roy Hodgson would've wanted following the confirmation of their relegation. Hodgson himself was happy with his sides' performance and he'll be hoping that his team can carry that performance into their remaining games.

Leicester will be happy to have Jamie Vardy back among the goals after netting twice against Norwich in midweek where he showed how much the Foxes have missed him this season. He was the difference for them that night and at 35 years old he's still got another season or two left in him.

The Foxes only have a goo end to the season left to play for as they've got nothing to fight for plus they also want to carry some momentum into next season. It's been a frustrating season for Brendan Rodgers' side and he'll certainly want to end it on a high.

PREDICTION: 0-2

I'm backing Leicester to win this one and comfortably because they'll have more than enough quality to win the game. Watford will be looking to build on their draw with Everton in midweek, but as they've been poor at home all season and the Foxes have Jamie Vardy back, this should be a straightforward win for the foxes.

WEST HAM V MAN CITY

West Ham could book their place in Europe if they get a result here which would cap off a fine season for them. David Moyes has done another great job this season ands he surely has to be nominated for the manager of the season award.

This game will be Mark Noble's final home game as a West Ham player and he'll certainly want to bow out on a high. He's been a great servant for the Hammers throughout his time at the club and de deserves a good send off.

Man City have been scoring goals for fun in recent games and they put in another ruthless performance against Wolves in midweek. Kevin De Bruyne was undoubtedly the star of the show in that one with the four goals he scored and I think he's putting himself in contention for the Player of the Season of award with the form he's in.

City only need four points to secure the title and a win here will put them on their way to doing that. They'll need to this game especially because Liverpool aren't playing and they'll want to give themselves a six point cushion before Liverpool play Southampton on Tuesday.

PREDICTION: 1-1

I can see City dropping points here because I think West Ham will give them a tough game. Liverpool dropped points against Spurs last weekend and I think it will be City's turn this week. Even though they've been scoring goals for fun in recent games.

WOLVES V NORWICH

Wolves have been unlike themselves over the last few games mainly in the way they've defended. They've been solid defensively all season but in their last three games they've shipped in 10 goals. Their strong defence has been a crucial part of their success this season and they'll need to go back to basics if they're to end the season well.

They got completely torn apart by Man City in midweek and the good news for them going into this one is that they won't be up against a similar kind of team here. Norwich may show some fight as they're already relegated but they're not a team who will walk through you.

Norwich I thought were ok in the first half against Leicester in that they kept them at bay and created some good chances. Their performance during that period was arguably better than their entire performance against West Ham and they'll need to show that in their remaining games so they can take some momentum into the Championship next season.

PREDICTION: 2-0

I'm backing Wolves to bounce back in this one as it's a game I can see them winning. They may not be in great form but I still think they'll have more than enough to win this game.

EVERTON V BRENTFORD

Everton have got two home games this week including this one and a win from both of them could be enough for them to secure their place in the Premier League next season. Their home form has been crucial in their battle for survival this season and another home win here should set them on their way.

Brentford could finish in the top 10 this season which would be a fantastic achievement for them if they were to finish there. They probably won't finish there but as they're just two points off Leicester who currently sit there, finishing up there is still very much achievable.

I think Thomas Frank deserves to be nominated for manager of the season because of how well he's managed his side in their first Premier League season. They haven't been in any serious trouble and have kept themselves a good distance away from the relegation zone all season.

PREDICTION: 2-0

I'm backing Everton to move closer to safety here because of how strong they've been at home over the last month or two. They've shown a lot of fight during that time and they've also looked resolute as a team. I can see them show those two things in this game.

MONDAY:

NEWCASTLE V ARSENAL

Newcastle's last two games have very much been reality checks given that they were both against Liverpool and Man City. This one could be another one as they're up against an Arsenal side who are fighting for a top four finish of which the Magpies are long way off as well.

It's a good thing that the Magpies are safe because if they were still in that relegation battle they might've been in deep trouble. They've had some tough fixtures to end the season with and their final game against Burnley could've been a relegation decider if they were still fighting it out at the other end.

Arsenal really need to win their final games of the season if they're to finish in the top four as Spurs are just two points behind them with a more favourable run in. They'll need to respond in this as they're playing after Spurs who will move above them if they beat Burnley.

This won't be an easy game for the Gunners because they have players missing and because of that they might struggle in this one. With Newcastle being reasonably strong at home, Mikel Arteta's side could be in for a tough evening.

PREDICTION: 1-1

I can see Newcastle make it a tough game for Arsenal here because they're reasonably strong at home and Arsenal are of course missing players through injury. Arsenal do have the players going forward to get a result but with most of their backline out, I think Newcastle will get something here.
