WEDNESDAY:
BRIGHTON V TOTTENHAM
Brighton are still in a rut having lost their last five league games where they've scored just once. They play some really good football at times but don't convert their chances on a regular basis. If they had a more clinical striker to lead their attack, they would win more games than they have done.
The Seagulls have a good home record against Spurs with just one defeat in this fixture since they got promoted in 2017. They've won both of their meetings against them at the AMEX under Graham Potter which will hopefully give them some much needed confidence.
Spurs' inconsistency continued against Man United at the weekend which was a major blow to their top four hopes. I thought they would win that one following their excellent performance against Everton the week before but their inconsistency came back to bite them.
They might actually win this one because of their inconsistent form and Brighton's current poor form. But as they have a poor record at the AMEX, this one won't be as winnable as they thought it would be.
PREDICTION: 1-1
Brighton have had a never say die attitude for most of this season but haven't had it for while due the current form they're in. I can see it return in this one as they have a good home record against Spurs. I don't think they'll win but I do think they'll get a result to end their bad run of form like they always do.
ARSENAL V LIVERPOOL
Arsenal appear to be the favourites to finish in the top four at the moment because of the current form they're in and the games in hand they have. They have a really good look about them at the moment as they're looking reasonably solid defensively and have some very good attacking options going forward which could serve them well.
The only thing stopping them from getting a result here will without a doubt be their poor record against the top sides. Their record against the so called big teams has been poor for a number of years and this game could be a good opportunity for them to put it right.
This is a game where Liverpool simply cannot afford to drop points and especially after Man City dropped points against Crystal Palace on Monday night. The reds have an opportunity here to reduce the deficit to just one point which would make the title race look very interesting indeed.
Mo Salah is a doubt for this game but Jurgen Klopp is confident that he'll play after saying that he is ready to train ahead of this game. Whether he plays or not, Liverpool should still get something as their squad is looking a lot stronger than it has done in recent years.
PREDICTION: 1-2
Both sides are in great form going into this game but as Arsenal have a poor record in these kind of games, I'm going for Liverpool to take the win. Arsenal will give it a go but I think the reds will have just enough to win the game.
THURSDAY:
EVERTON V NEWCASTLE
There were some positive signs from Everton in their defeat to Wolves on Sunday in that they made a bright start and created some good chances. But they unfortunately didn't take them and were later punished by a set piece for which they should've defended better.
The situation is beginning to get desperate for Everton as they're only outside the relegation zone on goal difference. I still think they'll have enough to stay up but with the games they have coming up and the form they're currently in, it won't be easy.
Newcastle will have felt hard done by after their defeat to Chelsea on Sunday as they had a penalty decision wrongly go against them. It might've been a different game if that decision went their way but in the end it didn't and the Magpies just have to accept defeat and move on.
The Magpies' win in the reverse fixture was the result that sparked their revival as it gave them the confidence to get more results and pull clear of danger. They've improved a lot since that win and will go into this fixture with arguably more belief because of the form they've been in ever since.
PREDICTION: 0-2
I'm backing Newcastle to win this one because they have much more belief and confidence than Everton do. The Toffees are low on confidence and are looking all over the place defensively for which I can see Newcastle take advantage of. Especially with a tricky player like Allan Saint Maximin in their side who I can see cause the Toffees all kind of problems.
