Man United: Keep or Sell

Man United's hopes of winning a trophy this season were ended last night as they were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid losing the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

With the team facing the prospect of no Champions League football next season along with their lack of silverware over the last five seasons, it's clear that they need a rebuild.

So who should United keep and who should they sell.

GOALKEEPERS

DAVID DE GEA - KEEP

De Gea has been back to his old best this season by keeping United in games time and time again. He's been arguably their best player over the course of the season and because of that I think they should keep him.

DEAN HENDERSON - SELL

I thought Henderson would be United's no.1 this season having been that player towards the end of last season. But with De Gea re-establishing himself as their first choice keeper, it would probably be better if Henderson leaves so he can get regular game time.

DEFENDERS

AARON WAN BISSAKA - KEEP

He hasn't had a good season this year much like his team but Wan Bissaka can be a good defender when he's on it. He can still improve going forward but give how good he is defensively, United should try and keep him.

DIOGO DALOT - SELL

He's never really convinced throughout his time at United so I would definitely be looking to offload him.

HARRY MAGUIRE - KEEP

He may be having a terrible season, but the United skipper can still be a good defender on his day. If the new manager can help him get his confidence back next season, we could see the Harry Maguire we saw at the Euro's for England.

RAPHAEL VARANE - KEEP

The Frenchman has had an injury hit first season at Old Trafford but can be a top class defender on his day. His experience and knowledge of the game will be a massive benefit for the youngsters coming through.

VICTOR LINDELOF - SELL

His aerial ability and lack of pace have been questioned ever since he's been at the club plus he's also got the odd mistake in him. He has had games where he's played well but with the frailties he has shown, United would rather move him so they can strengthen in this position and move forward.

ERIC BAILLY - SELL

Bailly looked like a very good signing when he joined the club in 2016 but injuries and poor form have seen him drop down the pecking order. He's someone that United should definitely be looking to offload because of those very reasons.

LUKE SHAW - KEEP

Shaw has had a rather disappointing season compared to last season but he still has the ability to be one of the best full backs in Europe. If the new manager can get the best out of him next season, he'll hopefully get back to the levels he was playing at last season.

ALEX TELLES - KEEP

Telles has been United's more regular left back under Ralf Rangnick and hasn't played too badly. He's got a good delivery on him and has provided some competition for Luke Shaw.

MIDFIELDERS

SCOTT MCTOMINAY - KEEP

McTominay has developed into a key for United over the last couple of seasons and is growing as a player also. United should be looking to build their team around the Scotsman next season.

PAUL POGBA - LET GO

With his contract up in the summer and the player himself unlikely to sign an extension, United have no choice but to let Pogba go. He's doesn't produce on a regular basis despite the talented player he is and if United are to move forward in the long term, they'll need players who will play for the badge.

FRED - KEEP

He has taken a lot of stick over the years but in recent games he has stepped up when United have needed someone to. He brings a lot of energy to the midfield and with that he could be an important player for the new manager.

NEMANJA MATIC - KEEP

He's not the player he once was but with the experience he has Matic would be a good player to have around the dressing room. Especially for the younger players coming through.

JUAN MATA - LET GO

His contract is up in the summer and hasn't played much over the last few years. He has been a good servant for the club but given that he's getting on and unlikely to sign a new contract, its best that United let the Spaniard go.

BRUNO FERNANDES - KEEP

He hasn't had a great season by his standards but when he's at it, Fernandes is one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe. He brings so much to the United attack and he's a player they can't afford to lose.

FORWARDS

JADON SANCHO - KEEP

Sancho only arrived in the summer and is starting show why United spent all that money on him. He's definitely going to be part of the new managers' plans whoever it is.

JESSE LINGARD - LET GO

His contract is up in the summer and hasn't been given enough game time over the course of the season. Because of those reasons it would be best if United let him go for the sake of his career.

ANTHONY ELANGA - KEEP

Elanga has impressed whenever he's been given an opportunity this season and there is no doubt that he's going to be a key player for United in the future. He's looking a bright prospect at 19 years old.

MARCUS RASHFORD - KEEP

He may not be having his best season this year but United should still be looking to keep him. He knows what it takes to be a Man United player and has grown a lot as a player ever since he burst onto the scene in 2016.

CRISTIANO RONALDO - SELL

He has been a game changer for them at times this season but I still feel that his arrival in the summer has unsettled the team. With United looking to bring a manager who plays a high pressing style of play, I can't see Ronaldo give in to that style.

EDINSON CAVANI - LET GO

He's heading into the latter stages of his career and has a contract that is up in the summer. With United also looking to buy a striker in the summer, it would be best if they let Cavani go so they can bring one in.
