FA Cup 3rd Round Draw Verdict

The draw for the FA Cup 3rd Round was made yesterday with some very interesting ties to look forward to next month.

Man City taking on Chelsea is without a doubt the tie of the round given the quality that both teams have and the calibre of players they both have as well. Both will be among the favourites to win this competition because of the teams they both are.

Dagenham and Redbridge of the National League or League 2 Gillingham have a big tie to look forward to one of them will be taking on Premier League Leicester. This could be one of the biggest shocks in the history of the competition if either side were to pull it off and especially Dagenham and Redbridge. But they have to beat Gillingham in their second round replay if they're to play this tie. But we could still see a couple of shocks involving non-league teams with Chesterfield taking on West Brom and Wrexham taking on Coventry.

League 2 Stevenage have the chance to cause a major upset as they'll be taking on Premier League Aston Villa. This would obviously be a massive upset if it was to happen and it could as Stevenage are 2nd in League 2 and Villa could make wholesale changes on the day.

2008 Winners Portsmouth have a chance of an upset as they'll be taking on Spurs. These two sides haven't met since the 2010 semi finals which Pompey won to reach the final. Could Pompey upset Spurs again? Other League 1 sides in with a chance of a major upset are Oxford and Sheffield Wednesday who'll be taking on Arsenal and Newcastle respectively. Oxford beating Arsenal would be one of the biggest shocks in the history of the competition given the size of both clubs.

Middlesbrough who reached the Quarter Finals last season have another chance to upset a Premier League side as they'll be facing Brighton which could be a decent game to watch. 2008 finalists Cardiff also have a chance to cause an upset as they'll be taking on Leeds who have a poor record in this competition in recent season. The Bluebirds will surely fancy themselves here for this very reason. Another former finalist in Hull also have a chance to cause an upset as they'll be taking on Fulham whilst leaders Burnley travel to Bournemouth and Blackpool take on Nottingham Forest.

There are also a few all-Premier League ties to look forward to with Man United facing Everton being one of the standouts with this tie likely to be a close contest as it has been over the years. Holders Liverpool will face Wolves as they look to defend their crown whilst Crystal Palace will take on Southampton and Brentford face West Ham in a London Derby.
