England Squad Verdict

Gareth Southgate announced his England squad earlier this week ahead of their final two World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino next week. No new faces have been added to the squad but there are however a couple of recalls in Marcus Rashford and Jude Bellingham.

Rashford deserves his recall because he's been in good form since returning from injury at the beginning of the month plus it was probably expected as he's been a key player for England ever since Southagte has been in charge. Jude Bellingham's recall was also expected after missing out last time due to Southgate not wanting to overuse him as he's still only 18 years old.

In terms of the rest of the squad, Kieron Trippier and Jadon Sancho were surprise omissions but at the same time I can see why they were both dropped. Sancho has struggled for form since joining Man United in the summer and Trippier wasn't included as we already have enough right backs in Kyle Walker, Reece James and Trent Alexander Arnold. Harry Maguire and Kalvin Phillips were expected to return after missing the last round of internationals through injury even they aren't in their best form at the moment but other than that the squad is more or less how I expected it to be.
