England's Euro adventure came to an end on Sunday as they were beaten by Italy in the final on penalties. With the Euros itself over, I've decided to rate the players based on their performances throughout the tournament.
JORDAN PICKFORD - 8
Very solid tournament from England's no.1 keeper. Conceded just two goals throughout the entire tournament and made a lot of top quality saves as England reached the latter stages. He showed why he's still our no.1 keeper.
KYLE WALKER - 7
Walker was solid throughout the tournament wherever he was asked to play whether that was at Right Back or at Centre Back. His pace made him a huge asset in the England backline both defensively and offensively in getting back to make vital interventions and bursting forward to create chances.
KIERAN TRIPPIER - 6
Trippier did put one foot wrong at this tournament as he was good defensively and offensively during England's run to the final. He did a solid job in the games he played and was effective in both departments.
REECE JAMES - 4
Didn't get a lot of game time and didn't do enough in the only game he played in against Scotland. He headed a clearance off the line but didn't do enough going forward.
JOHN STONES - 8
Stones was rock solid throughout the tournament by winning headers and making vital interventions when he needed to. He was a crucial part of England's solid backline right up to the final where formed a strong partnership with both Tyrone Mings and Harry Maguire.
HARRY MAGUIRE - 9
He missed the first two games through injury but when he came back he made a huge difference for England. He was crucial at both ends of the pitch in winning headers at set pieces and showed how good he is with the ball at his feet by being able to carry it out from the back.
TYRONE MINGS - 7
Solid in the two games he played where he proved himself to be a good deputy for Harry Maguire. He was arguably one of England's best players in the group stage along with Raheem Sterling.
LUKE SHAW - 9
Shaw was a constant threat down the left hand side throughout the tournament by bursting forward and getting crosses into the box. He's becoming the player we all thought he would be when he first broke onto the scene.
DECLAN RICE - 7
Formed an excellent partnership with Phillips at the base of the midfield and was solid throughout the tournament. Made vital interventions when he needed to plus he also carried the ball out at times along with playing quality long passes to the forwards.
KALVIN PHILLIPS - 7
After impressing in the first game the Yorkshire Pirlo became undroppable for the rest of the tournament. He formed an excellent partnership with Rice in midfield and grew a lot as a player as a the tournament progressed.
JORDAN HENDERSON - 5
Didn't play a lot as he just returned from injury prior to the tournament and wasn't able to make a massive impact because of that. But he did get his first England goal and add some solidity and experience to the midfield when England needed it.
JUDE BELLINGHAM - 5
Didn't have a massive impact on this tournament but he'll gain a lot of experience from this as he is still very young. Big future ahead for the Borussia Dortmund man.
MASON MOUNT - 6
Didn't have an amazing tournament but he did work hard for the team. Made runs into the box, pressed opponents high and wanted to create chances from both open play and from a set piece. He left nothing out on the pitch like the rest f his teammates.
PHIL FODEN - 6
Put in good performances on the pitch by working hard for the team and trying to make something happen. He was always looking to do something whenever he had the ball but it didn't quite fall for him which he'll for sure be disappointed with. But he would've gained a lot of experience form this with it being his first senior major tournament.
JACK GREALISH - 7
Whenever England needed a spark Grealish often provided it by running at players and making something happen in the final third. He impressed in every game he played in and in him England may finally have a new Paul Gascoigne.
BUKAYO SAKA - 7
He may have missed the crucial spot kick in the final, but Saka still had an impressive tournament at just 19 years old. He looked a threat in almost every game he played in by beating players with his pace plus he's added further competition in the England attack.
RAHEEM STERLING - 9
Sterling's place in the team was questioned going into the tournament and he showed why Southgate picked him by scoring 3 goals along with putting in good performances game after game. He stepped up when England needed someone to and because of that his name deserves more respect.
JADON SANCHO - 6
Didn't see a lot of action over the course of the tournament due to England's incredible strength in depth in the forward department but Sancho did look lively when given a run out. Impressed in the Quarter Final win over Ukraine and he might've had a higher rating if he had more action.
MARCUS RASHFORD - 5
Rashford didn't get a lot of game time at this tournament which I'm quite surprised with as I was expecting him to play a lot more than he did. He didn't get enough game time during the tournament and to cap it off he missed in the shootout.
HARRY KANE - 7
He had a slow start to the tournament but as soon as the knockout stages arrived, he finally delivered. He ended the tournament with 4 goals which is a reasonable return in any major finals and he once again showed why he is England's talisman.
DOMINIC CALVERT LEWIN - 3
Didn't get a lot of game time due to him being second fiddle to Harry Kane and he never made a big impact when he was given an opportunity. That's the life of a striker playing second fiddle to the main man.
