TUESDAY:
VILLARREAL V LIVERPOOL
Villarreal didn't really offer anything going forward in the first leg as they spent most of the game trying to keep Liverpool at bay. Particularly in the first half. With the second leg being a home tie for them Unai Emery will want his side to be a bit more adventurous. Especially as they're 2-0 down.
Liverpool were completely dominant in the first leg at Anfield right throughout the game. They did have to be patient but they were always going to go ahead in the tie with the amount of chances they had.
They'll be expecting a more difficult game here as Villarreal are the home side and will be looking to give it more of a go. The reds will still go for it like they always do but I don't think they'll be as dominant as they were in the first leg.
PREDICTION: 0-1
I think Liverpool will edge this one because I can see them nick a goal to finish off the tie. Villarreal will give it more of a go but I think the reds will have enough quality to hold on to their lead and finish off the tie.
WEDNESDAY:
REAL MADRID V MAN CITY
Real Madrid will be going into this game off the back of winning La Liga and they might a feel a bit hung-over going into this game depending on how much they celebrated their title win. Some teams haven't been quite at it in their first game after winning a league and Carlo Ancelotti will need to make sure that his side are ready and well prepared for this game. Especially as they're 4-3 down.
Real were poor defensively in the first leg as they struggled to cope with the intensity City were playing at. With City likely to play at that intensity again in this one, Real will need to be well prepared for this game or they'll get punished like they did last time.
Man City caused Real all kinds of problems in this first leg and particularly from crosses. Two of their goals came from crosses and right throughout the game they kept troubling the Real backline by getting numerous balls into the box. They'll surely be looking to do the same in this one as they know how vulnerable Real can be defensively.
City will know that this tie is still very much alive with the aggregate score currently at 4-3. They'll be expecting a strong response from Real in this second leg as Real are behind in the tie and will have the home crowd behind them to cheer them on.
PREDICTION: 1-2
I can see this one being another close game but I don't think it will be quite as crazy as the first leg. I'm going for City to take the win here because I can see them cause Real all kinds of problems like they did in the first leg plus I also think Real may be a little hung-over from their La Liga title win.
