The draw for the last 16 of the Champions League was made yesterday with some very interesting games to look forward. There are some games that are set to be close and some set to have an obvious winner. So let's see what I think of the draw.
Out of the English clubs Liverpool have the toughest draw as they'll be taking on defending champions Real Madrid in a rematch of last seasons final. Liverpool will of course want revenge for losing that final in Paris but Real will still be favourites as they're having the better season and have won their last four games against Liverpool in this competition.
Chelsea and Spurs also have tough ties but their ties are slightly more winnable. Chelsea will be up against Borussia Dortmund where both Christian Pulisic and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang will face their former club for the first time since leaving them. Spurs on the other hand will be up against Serie A champions AC Milan. Dortmund will be a test for Chelsea as they have a number of good players in their squad but with their team not as strong this season, the blues will still fancy themselves. AC Milan will no doubt be a tough game for Spurs but with both sides having recently returned to Europe's best club competition, Spurs might back themselves to get something here.
Man City meanwhile have the most winnable tie as they'll be up against RB Leipzig. Leipzig did beat City in the group stages last season and have caused some shocks in this competition in the past. But City will still be clear favourites given the quality they have and how much stronger they are looking this season.
Standout tie is no doubt PSG taking on Bayern Munich due to the size of both clubs and the quality both sides possess. Bayern will probably be favourites as they won all their group games and PSG have been known in the past for blowing it at this stage of the competition. The Parisian's will no doubt fancy their chances as their team is full of world class talent plus they have a front three that can damage any defence in Europe.
Inter Milan against Porto could be a close game as both sides have some very good attacking players. They also beat big name opponents in the group stages with Inter beating Barcelona and relegating them to the Europa League whilst Porto beat Atletico Madrid and knocked them out of Europe all together. Inter will probably be favourites as they have a bit more in quality but Porto will still make it a tough game for them.
Other ties see Napoli taking on Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt and Club Brugge taking on Benfica. Napoli will be seen as the favourites against Frankfurt as they're having a great season in Serie A whilst Benfica should have enough to beat Club Brugge.
FULL LAST 16 DRAW:
RB Leipzig v Man City
Club Brugge v Benfica
Liverpool v Real Madrid
AC Milan v Tottenham
Eintracht Frankfurt v Napoli
Borussia Dortmund v Chelsea
Inter Milan v Porto
PSG v Bayern Munich
